Back with an A2 Project – A2Steve

The one in my car already is very good, I just wanted to change to discs, mainly for aesthetics.

I’ll take the next disc brake axle off that I get in and stick it in the marketplace.

Better one of the votex lip and the wheels.

Next job disc brake rear axle.

No mate, they were really clean so will re-use them. Even the handbrake cables came off easily with no signs of damage so will be re-using them.

You are lucky then, we had to replace the whole lot and those brake pipes are not cheap. However, the bearings/hubs are very cheap and worth replacing whilst you’re at it.

Hi Ian,
Just seen your comment on the rear brake pipes, I'm hoping to overall the back end how much were they if you don't mind me asking.

You’ve certainly got a good eye for A2 modification Steve, cap doffed, looks lovely. Give it a few more years and there’ll be as many A2Steve modified A2s on the road as there are others. ?

From memory they were £70 total, which is a lot for some bent steel pipes! I suppose not much in the scheme of things.
The problem is that no-one but Audi sell them, so you have no alternative.

Are they different from the normal drum braked pipes then?

I think i'm slowing down a little. There are fewer good cars coming up for sale so it makes me more reluctant to sell the good one I have.

I may well do another Dune project for winter 2021 use, within the next couple of months to spare this car the road salt.
