Good point. I think your car could definitely pull off a more radical interior though.

How is your ‘new style’ front bumper plan coming along?

Managed to source an a3 grill from a mate whose doing an upgrade ... got another bonnet coming with a slatted grill as will be easier to incorporate .. just trying to source a bumper now .. had bud on one on ebay and the bloke pulled it from sale ... looking to pay as cheap as poss as will be cutting it up ...

I would bet that someone on here has an old bumper skin sitting around in their garage that they won't be putting back on (after a little ding perhaps?)

Hiya redbull... am intrigued and looking forward to seeing what you have in mind ... have a few changes to mine that will be getting under way at some point ... ... has Mr B finished in his quest yet or is there more to come on that front ...

I'm a graphic designer can explain a little about visual balance and using dark space to slim things. The 'big rump' on yours is basically a problem of visual balance. Standard A2s trick you into thinking they are less tall because the lower bumpers and sills are painted dark grey which optically lowers the visual silhouette of the car by making the 'body' seem slimmer and nearer the road than it actually is. The votex kit covers those standard body areas with skirts and air-dams, and in 99% of cases, the owner plumps for body coloured rather than matt grey paint. The kit generally certainly looks cool, but makes the car look a lot more 'roller-skate' like now that this optical illusion has been covered over, making the sides and rear taller and more 'flank' like. I'd bet a bit of matt grey colour coding on a Votex kit would do some serious work in making the kit more subtle and less in your face.

I am of the opposite train of thought with this.
I have a Rover 827 Coupe, White Gold in colour. All saloon and fastback 800's were all body colour, while the 2 door Coupé like mine In This topic are black on the lower part.
As much as I love my Coupe (i have had it 18 years) I am SO tempted to get it spayed full body colour when I do the paint next year. Rover said it was done to "lower" the look of the car. I find it makes it just look higher off the ground.

That, I REALLY like. Wouldn't work on my A2. Its metallic black
Would having the panel on the tailgate on your car wrapped or painted in Matt black perhaps? It might look subtle, perhaps too subtle?

just a thought

It's not the A2 that bothers me. I bought it because its black, and you can't see the black lower trim on it, like the Rover Coupe.
When I was looking for an A2, it had to be black, or non black, but with a Votex kit.

I am deeply tempted to get my Rover lower trims & Sills painted body colour, but keep the black waistband. The Gold needs it. But the Nightfire Red needs a body colour waistband.
