Forum Update Today

Is there a way to change the font size ? Specifcally, I tend to use Forum/New Posts view as my primary starting point and it all a bit big for my liking. I had a look around my account preferences, but I would expect that sort of thing to be in the core settings somewhere.

I am a bit colour blind, so it might be just light grey rather than blue. I tried switching theme to the A2OC Dark one, but that just changed the headings and menus etc.

Can you post a screenshot of what you mean? And I'll attempt to make the contrast better.

Re: user defined schemes - we create any number of colour schemes - but this is done at the Admin level - so maybe a High Contrast one would be helpful for some of our users.

Not directly. We can modify the styles to reduce them. However, the default sizes in the product are designed in a way to be usable in both desktop and mobile applications. As per previous post, we can create an alternative style with compact font size.

It's here ... Not much difference between this and above, to me at least :)

Ok, thanks for clarifying that. What about the thread ordering - newest post first? It really makes reading multi-page threads a pain in the ar5e.

I now click on "Whats new" and then click on "Latest Activity" which brings me the to newest post at the top of the page in an orderly list.

Mike,

If I am reading you post correctly, there is a ‘jump to new post’ link at the top of the page.

I've created an A2OC Small style with slightly small fonts and tighter spacing (Go to Your Account > Preferences to select it).

Perfect Ben. Top marks for this and for the transition which was smooth and without issue. Well done Squire.

excellent work....however, is it possible to highlight the background colour of the stickys so that its easier to distinguish between these sections! this might be a little picky of me but it will look more aesthetically pleasing to the eye when viewing sections on these pages :)

if this is a user option and ive missed it...where is it?

cheers

Mike,

That's fine and is reminiscent of the old "Recent Activity" button on the old version of the site, however, I'm not talking about recent or new activity, I'm talking about the arrangement of threads, so it's newest post first and oldest (or original) post last. This way, when going through old threads which wouldn't necessarily appear in the What's New link, you can click on them and see the most recent post straight away. I believe it was in the user settings part of the old site and appears to be gone now, or perhaps it was a hang-over from my co-owner/moderator status before?

I like the clean look of the new site, but at the moment, I feel like a kid in a new school and I don't know where anything is or what most things do.

If you click the link to the far right of an old thread in a forum (shown as a date) this will take you to the last post straight away.

Then it's a case of scrolling upwards instead of down for the older posts in the thread.

Clicking the link on the right took me here which was the latest post in the thread.

Having been part of implementing 100s of S/w upgrades and/or migrations to completely new applications/programs it is quite normal to feel like a kid in a new school and I should think that almost if not everyone on here is feeling the same.

I've modified the style slightly to give an accent to the stickies.

That is a big improvement even though it is a subtle change.

Thanks for doing a great job and for the continued improvements.

My wife used Microsoft Word with the Ribbon Bar for the first time at the weekend. She immediately complained that she couldn't find anything. Fortunately this forum switch is much less of a dramatic change.
