Fuel record:)

Let me take this thread back onto subject.... it's of course about how many mpg we're getting from our wee ally pals and the most possible out of a tankful. Ive not measured any journeys or 'full to empty' calculations myself, I only go by the DIS which a few members believe to be unreliable. I dont think Ada will be breaking any records soon, its always appeared that we return the lower figures that are quoted, (42 - 55 mpg depending on journey type and weather conditions - our climate control is always on too) we're still more than satisfied with that! It'll be interesting to see the difference post remap later this year :D

Trade it in for a diesel ?:eek::D:cool:

lol Thinking about a 90 in the future, did a test drive in a 1.6 earlier this week and wasn't that impressed, not the massive jump in performance I was expecting. Plus if I give it a couple of years I should *hopefully* be able to get a really nice spec 90 for a good price.:)

TDI.
I've done a 'controlled test' (5ltr can in boot) on how much more you can get on reserve and it amazed me. Although the needle hits empty pretty soon there still is a certain amount to play with.
On a run doing 50-55 I got 64 miles out of her and it didn't birp once.

Caveat: Don't do this if you aren't sure about the cleanliness of your tank bottom......

Well just to go back to something earlier here's that pic i said i would post for those looking

Just to add you shouldn't rearly try this with the TDI they don't like to run out of fuel, the easyest way fill up set your trip to 0 then run it till the light comes on, fill up again work out how many gallons from your L's then divide miles ;)

Agree with Phil. I've been doing that for the last 4 years and you can see the stats on google (see below). Over time I believe any minor changes (e.g. due to car on a slope) will even out.

I still find it intriguing as to why the fuel consumption dropped after Nov 07. It must be a change of tyres. Softer compound and change in radius of the tyre. I've never been able to get back to 60 mpg. Maybe I'm driving faster ;)
