Have all A2's got a OBDII connector

HUD versions don't work well with the A2 - the screen angle is not good and there is a double-vision effect because of this.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi the unit needs to be calibrated for the fuel used in your car.

Have you entered the capaicty of your fuel tank?

you also need to set up the engine displacemet and the type off fuel used.

You also need to set up fuel being used. You have to fill the car up. tell it has been filled up. You then need to run to about 1/4 of a tank and fill up again. Tell it you have filled up again and compare how much you have put in and how much scangauge thinks you have put in and set it accodingly.

Allso you have a usa import so is it set to uk or us units?

I hope this is understable:)

Also I noticed the acual mpg is up and down quite a bit depending on driving conditions. I found the avage mpg more usefull as a genral rule.

Thanks riverlad i will give it a go, i take it the gallons is US gallons, or can that be changed, i have set to 1.4 and diesel, there is 2 diesel settings a&b, which one have you set it to?

Its seting a you need.

I am not to sure about uk and us gallons, but give it a go and see how it goes.

The biggest pain in the ar*s is working out liters to gallons at the pump to enter in the scangauge:)

I ended upp writing the covestions down so I could easly work out the amount of galons I have put in.

In the interests of trying to curb that heavy foot of mine and maximise economy, I too have joined the list of owners of the scangauge 2; (though I have as yet not received the beastie).

My initial thought and preference was to position the device on the "squared" centre of the dash, but as I don't ideally want to keep removing it from the car, for security reasons feel this is probably not really viable. The obvious standard look and thus reducing the risk of break in if left in situ whilst away from the car, is the cubby below the climate, (as posted by Chris), but I'm not convinced that this will offer the best drivers "eye view" and will prove to be somewhat of a distraction to try to read the display.

So, perhaps I am stating the obvious, but do people think that I will be asking for trouble if I opt for displaying the device on the dash and leave it in situ when away from the vehicle? (I.e. is this the same as leaving a sat-nav if full view?). My guess is yes, just wanted to "gauge", (pun intended) opinion. Alternatively, any other mounting options gratefully received.

Cheers,

Darren

Why not secure it in your favoured location with velcro? Then when you park up you can peel it off and hide it under a chair or in the glove box.

I was going to Will and perhaps that is what I will end up having to do anyway. Problem is, during the week my journeys are very short normally and I wanted to avoid having to remove and replace it every five seconds if possible.

Cheers,

Darren

Thats what i have done, i dont think someone will break into your car for a scangauge seeing as few people know what it is!! enjoy your scangauge as i am enjoying mine i am finally not regretting picking a car without dis

Thanks Chris, hoping mine will arrive tomorrow...:)

How are you finding reading the display with the unit housed in the cubby?

Cheers,

Darren

Well the scangauge 2 arrived first thing this morning. Fitment decision ultimately isn't too dis-similar to David's (riverlad) and was/is a doddle to install, set up and operate. First impressions; I am pleased with the range of display options and the compactness of the unit. Time will tell how accurate or otherwise the device proves to be, but one immediate benefit to watching the mpg drop to '8' under full throttle in conjunction with a high rev band......is to know to ease off quickly or continue to watch your hard earned cash deposit out of the back of the exhaust pipe in quick fire fashion!!

Note to self: set off earlier and reduce the right foot pressure...it is a tdi after all...

Its not too bad really, i find that at that angle the blue is the best colour but it isnt too distracting as long as you just have the occasional glance but its up to you i have only just realised how similar our cars are aswell, brothers!!

Enjoy
