Hello. I'm new

17" wheels (sport) - ... I can't recall off the top of my head
16" wheels (SE) - 185/50R16 81V
15" wheels (base) - 175/60R15

I started with the 16"s, and then went to 15s because they were more comfortable.

I use a non-standard size, 175/65R15, which is slightly bigger than normal, but there are more tyres available in it, and it is cheaper because it is on more cars. Note that if you use a non-standard size, in theory you should tell your insurance company.

Thanks for all the info

Oh, I may have my 195/50/16s put on the Audi then. Dunlops, I love them they last for ever.

Just double check that the SE rim width is suitable for 195-width tyres. My TT alloys are 7J (ie 7") so 195mm fits nicely. Not sure what the J width of the SE alloy actually is? I'm 99% sure it's fine as I think my cousin has 195/50/16s on her SE.
Don't you just love the mixed up metric and imperial units used for wheels and tyres!

Ha, yeah. I originally didn't think they'd fit. Would be nice if they did. Can't be doing with rubbing.

I've completed Mike's info.

195/50/16 tyres will fit just fine on the 6-spoke SE wheels, by the way. They're a 6J, meaning 195 protects the rim slightly without looking too fat.

Brill. Given the size of the sport's wheel and tyre I was hoping they would.

As long as the steering rack is centred properly, it's possible to run the Sport alloys with 205/45/17 tyres, meaning your desired 195/50/16 tyres will fit with ease. :)

Picking up the a2 after lunch today. :)

How do I reset trip miles, mpg etc on DIS. Want to fill the car up (first time buying diesel in 15 years of car ownership) and reset everything.

Ta.

Good news. As a hopeless A2-holic I am excited for you!

To answer your DIS question you could always read the manual :p

But to start off with, use the toggle/rocker button on the end of the wiper stalk to scroll through the functions, then press the flat button on the underside of the stalk to reset to zero if applicable.

Also note that if you press and hold the underside button for too long the DIS switches off - don't worry, just flick this button again and it'll live again!

When you have more time there is detailed information on DIS functionality and user settings in the owners manual.

Cheers Murdo. I've not seen the paperwork in the flesh yet, so hopefully it includes a manual.

I'm excited too. As stressful as I find buying a new car, I've approached this al with my eyes wide open. So, hopefully it will all go well.

I've bought a load cover off eBay, and hopefully Tom on here is sorting me a false floor.

So it's just a cambelt change I need now.

Hi,
Welcome to A2OC! Only suggestion I would make is to get it "Stealthed" by Vince. This should take the car to approx 104bhp and a 25% increase in torque, I also got an extra 1mpg after having it done. Car is much better to drive now, really flies when you need it to. Definitely get cruise control done at the same time, makes it much better to drive on motorways etc.
This is the best Owners Club site that I have ever joined, loads of information and advice from other A2 fans, saved me a lot of money already.
Best regards
Brian

Dropped my car at the garage, picked up the A2, and hot-footed it to Tom/Timmus' gaff where he worked his diagnostic, iPod integration and watchful eye magic.

Introduced Ted to Tom, then went home, got a lift to the garage to collect my old car, and JUST got home.

Phew. Thanks Timmus/Tom. Top guy.

After tons of driving and an aching right leg, I NEED cruise control. How much does it generally cost to retrofit?

I got my parts, genuine Audi (although not A2 original) for £60-70, sourced from Germany; there's a few options. You can install yourself if you're confident with that sort of thing but there a members on here who are very experienced with installing cruise who could perhaps do it for you.

Cheers

My memory is shocking so could be wrong, but I think mine cost about £160 fitted. That was a few years back as well. Speak to Tom, he may be more up to speed with this now.

Yeah it's in that kind of price range for sure. Cruise was one of my earliest mods, after the week 1 remap...

I've spent £100 wisely at Audi:

No more scoring the windscreen and awful wiping.

Just have the clunking door bracket to replace when it comes in tomorrow, the one they had ordered was the wrong one. That'll be another £20 well spent!

One of the early mods for many people, I think... the aero wiper is just so much better!
Replacing door check straps is another common just-bought-an-A2 activity. :)

Aero wiper is miles better and the new arm is silent. I'm itching to replace the check strap... Clunk announcing my arrival every time I get out of the car is NOT a good look!
