Chat How long ULEZ

Actually, I just checked this. VE04XTR isn't an A2, it's a Toyota Yaris - you can just make that out on the PCN photo in George's post.
Well that explains that. The only logical explanation for it not being a GH A2!!!

That really is poor that either the software or whoever entered the data missed that. Not a huge surprise though…..

Mayor Khan, put a ULEZ camera up on a road just outside the zone and fined thousands (probably tens of thousands because it's a very busy route) of innocent motorists who never even entered the London ULEZ zone.

To make matters worse, motorists who phoned up TFL and told them that they had never entered the zone were fobbed off with the line, "cameras don't make mistakes so if the camera recorded your car it is because your car was in the zone".

The ULEZ map clearly shows that "Common Road" (marked A409 on the map below) is not in the zone, but it was not until the Watford Observer intervened that TFL started listening. The camera was in the wrong place for weeks.

I don't think humans are involved, at least until you challenge the PCN. That's why there's no point in doing anything till it does.
If mere mortals could cancel reported infringements, there'd be a, (potentially), nice little earner for the admin team.
Mac.

You’re probably right Mac. It’s just my experience tells me the weak link with most IT is the bit between the chair and the keyboard.

I honestly don't think either, (chairs or keyboards), are involved, until a challenge is made. Humans couldn't handle the number of "transgressions" each day. Bit like asylum seekers, if that was automated, you'd only need a few face recognition cameras on the beach.

Vans out again. They don’t learn don’t park on double yellow lines and your security guard car parked on the footpath and double yellow lines as well .To add to the list. The van is also showing as uninsured on Askmid.

TfL has a debt in excess of £13b, some of this is attributed to losses incurred during covid19. Government cannot afford to bail them out. Fare increases and wage increases do not balance the books. Parking in London is a nightmare whereas even home owners cannot park outside homes. So something had to be done. He went about it the wrong way….. he needed to get everyone on board as opposed to annoying road commuters. The running costs will just add to the debt. He will partially achieve some of his goal by ridding London of 100,000 cars. He would have had a better chance if he incremented the cost ie year1 £5, year2 £10 year3 £15 etc would have given people a better chance/choice to upgrade cars or or pay the fee. Glasgow went straight for fines. Give it 10 years and only electric vehicles will be allowed in😳
Electric cars and classic cars that are tax exempt (over 40 years old)

Happy with that👍
When I get started with working on my Stag (will take some time) I shall have a free mot/tax car to use….. Just sold my very nice Saab convertible 😢😢 but wait,
Just purchased a really nice SLK (1997 so 26 years old…) but alas euro2…. Still, if it lasts that long, will be tax/mot free in 2037. And my we A2 if legislators decide no longer usable can be sorned until 2044😱
Probably will not be around then… so need to put this lot in my will for my son with instucations😂😂

Been offroad for almost 6 weeks ..after 1day where I was incorrectly subject to LEZ. Finally got a letter from TfL after refusing to send them my reg doc, and sending complaint email to say my A2 TDI is now subject to ULEZ , not LEZ which im OK with as this is what it should have been .

Don't think the Scottish ULEZ zone plan is about emissions.
Checked my 2013 109 Co2 and 0.035 Nox g/km diesel car, big fine.
Brothers 2021 161 Co2 and 0.058 Nox g/km Porsche Macan, no problem.
Not my 2017 Bently Bentayga 4L V8 Diesel 210 Co2 and 0.04Nox g/km no problem.
Best bit, 2001 Audi A2 petrol 144 Co2 and 0.033 Nox g/km no problem.
Nice to see them encouraging older cars back into the town centres.

The Scottish version of ULEZ us based on Euro 4, not just NOx like London
Scotland's ULEZ emission standards are as follows:
Euro 4 for petrol cars and vans
Euro 6 for diesel cars and vans
Euro VI for buses, coaches and HGVs.
Certainly easier to understand.
Mac.

Apparently if you turn your car in to a clown's car you are exempt from London Ulez!
