My 2000 tdi is exempt
Your Tdi must be a 1.2 then? If not, Tfl have made another mistake. No surprise there!

So, reading that letter Ian, who is going to pay to upgrade all the busses, emergency vehicles and such? The London tax-payer? Or will public transport just go up in cost to pay for the new fleet?
Then there's the increased cost of delivering goods to the capitol - aren't pretty much all lorries and vans diesel?
I think a can of worms is about to be opened by Citizen Khan!!
I have finally received a reply from my MP about this, with a letter from the Mayor. Whether a vehicle "complies" depends only on when it was registered in the UK and not, as should be the case, the date of first registration (anywhere). So if you have a vehicle that is compliant, but registered before Euro 4 was required, TfL will tell you that it is not compliant. You can change this by making an application with supporting documents. On the other hand, if you have imported a vehicle that is not compliant and registered it after the above date, TfL will (presumably) tell you that it is compliant! There seems to be no attempt to differentiate between newly registered cars and imports.
I am not sure if this explains all the anomalies in this thread but that's how their "system" works.

But once the new ULEZ comes in next year, only diesel engined vehicles that meet Euro 6 will be exempt.
That’s why I have a petrol A2. They only have to be Euro 4 to be exempt from the ULEZ charges.
Also, the ULEZ will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Just noticed that the t-charge checker on TFL website is now charging the T-Charge even for the 2004 and 2005 TDI's, which I thought they were all Euro 4 therefore exempt? I have been looking recently to replace my 2002 TDI with a younger model, despite it drives like a dream, but alas I ive in central London.... All 2004 and 2005 TDI I was interested are all subject to the T-charge now. I am missing something or TFL has just tightened the screws??
