New member, about to make an A2 Purchase

I had a 420 gsi in nightmare red. Lovely drive before it overheated.
😁

@Phil_B - nice to meet you and good luck with the search. I stumbled across the A2 as a quirky, DIY-able alternative to having modern work car that does long distances in comfort and with good fuel economy. This requirement along with my rural location meant my 1.4 TDi 90 with six speed gearbox and some other choice upgrades is the perfect solution. I would seriously consider the FSi if I had to regularly drive within the ULEZ zone - If you can successfully run a fleet of Rovers then as above, it's the one for you - that sounds almost rude on the Rovers, but I know you'll take it in the spirit in which the comment was meant!

I'd want one with under 90,000 miles on the clock and I'd want to get a Proboost on it sharpish as a preventative measure (others may disagree but it's my personal opinion - you can look at all the options and make your own mind up).

Well done, is that the Maidstone one with the EML just come on? Those seats are great and with all those parts; the basis of a great car

Yes, I first approached the seller start of Jan when the add firs came up. Was £2700 then. Dropped it to £2000, and I got a bit off because of a whine in the OSF wheel bearing.
Going to get the wheel refurbished too.

I've been looking on Ebay. they range form £10.00 upwards to quite high.
Also, need the software too for a laptop. Had a look online recently, and now can't find it in my history. Apparently some versions you have to pay for, and are better.
Manuals wise, This is what I have gained from forum.
You can download the Lite version free from Ross-Tech website. Don't get the software from anywhere other than Ross-Tech. KKL cable under £10 on eBay.
The Lite version can be licensed, (well worth it), for $99.
Mac.

That's funny Phil, I had a message last night that they had sold it to a family member, I was down to visit last week but I was called out for work instead and couldn't make it. Good luck with the car.

I might have the A2 your looking for 1.4 sport .74k, part history. Changed timing belt & water pump at 68k. New roof lining.

Hello everyone.

I have been on the lookout for a cool, and retro ULEZ com[pliant car for a few months due to my location just outside London Borough Croydon, and the proposed (and hopefully challenged) expansion.
My brother suggested the A2, and I am really liking them. I have been looking around for a while, getting a feel for the market etc, and learning about issues, foibles etc. Mechanically, I am very capable as i currently have more than one Rover 800.... (See below).
My budget is around £2500, maybe more. Must have AC, preferably a dark interior, good history. The usual stuff. Double DIN head unit with Bose sound would be very nice, but I know they are hard to come by. I do like my music.
The Coupe has am Alpine CRA 9812RB head unit, Alpine Sub and dedicated amp, with Kenwood 4 channel amp, Pioneer 8" 3 way in the stock holes rear, and Alpine 6 1/2 component fronts, and Dynamat fitted.

One thing my brother said about the A2 is that the audio in these is superb because of the all Aluminium bodywork. I am looking forward to this.

I have a checksheet of things to look for on my hunt, but anything to be excessively wary of when looking? 1.4 and 1.6Fsi

Going to look at a car this week hopefully, reg VK54KWJ.

I will hopefully become a regular user of this forum, keeping these cool cars alive.

Enjoy the non Audi car pix below. :)

One of my others, in front of the Coupe. A late model Nightfire Red fastback Vitesse. This is being sold at present to make way for the Audi. It was not in a very good state when I got it and saved its life.
Love the Rover fleet. Always admired their big coupes

Oh wow, this thread made me laugh because I walk/ride past your house almost every day. You're the absolute legend halfway up the hill with the two Rover 800s!! I live about half a mile from you and we bought an A2 in December. Really enjoying living with it, although it doesn't get much use as we have too many cars and not enough journeys to do. Drop me a message and I'd be very happy for you to pop round and have a look/go of ours, it's a 1.6fsi SE. Cheers Richard
