Outstanding work Tom, very well done. Must catch up later in the year.

Hello Bob,

Thank you and yes absolutely Sir. You’re always welcome here and I’m not adverse to popping down to you either. There is no reason why I shouldn’t be at the Green Man for the meal in the next month or 2. Be good to catch up, just have to decide which of the fleet to arrive in, your old AB A2 or the JR A2.

Kind regards,

Tom

Oh decisions, decisions Tom!
Jelly has at last got the rear spoiler fitted, and is booked in to get the stainless exhaust modified, as it rattles on the back axle at times. It also needs the outlet extending to exit proud of the bodywork to cut down noise. All in good time.

Haha,

A visit to your it is then for one of those DIY spoilers. Sure we could knock something up in a few hours 🙏.

Afternoon all,

I thought I’d show a couple of pictures after a recent sale. The decision to let the Pepperpots go into our Market Forum yesterday concluded not 24 hours later. The Pepperpots that were pictured on recent posts were removed:

They were very quickly fitted to Carlos’s @Lymus A2 which left me wheelless. Fortunately Carlos allowed me to borrow his removed 17” wheels just to keep this A2 mobile. Here’s what it looks like with a larger and wider set of wheel fitted:

Although these wheels are a temporary measure, it definitely reveals that the smaller and narrower Pepperpots had to go. The stance looks brilliant. Carlos will be collecting these in the next week or 2 and may well be available after that, but would benefit from a Refurbishment process and new rubber.

The adapters for the A8 D2 wheels will be here Tuesday followed by a National tyres Mobile fitter adding a fresh set of rubber to them 24 hours later. Should be back on this thread with the new look on Wednesday evening all going well.

Cannot wait to finally see the aesthetics of the wheels Ive had in the garage for some 3 years.

Kind regards,

Tom

Oh my this is better than I'd hoped. You can never sell this what a machine, one of the best 👌 👍 wow. Great persistence in pursuit of perfection sir!!!

Ohhh I do like those wheels. Always thought nine was the magic number, but five maybe as good.

Hello Edd,

Glad you like what’s been completed so far. It’s been fun doing these enhancements in the evenings. It’s now looking exactly how I had hoped but these wheels aren’t the finished aesthetics it’ll be sporting by hopefully mid-week.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello Mac,

I have to agree with you Sir, I’ve always thought the 9 spoke sport wheels look best and are of course original, such a shame they weigh so much and aren’t quite up to strength for most of the local roads either end of my commute. These will of course be replaced mid-week with the A8 D2 wheels if everything goes to plan.

These aftermarket wheels certainly give good presence for the time being though.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello all,

I know I’ve inundated you with pictures of wheels recently which I can only apologise for. Further apologies also required as I’m about to show you yet another set, which I’ve had in the garage for a couple of years ready for the right A2. The idea of fitting these particular wheels was inspired by Menno @Menno a few years ago, after seeing a set of the below wheels on his A2 made me start searching for a set right away. The search didn’t take long but never got around to fitting them to Project OEM, very glad I waited because I believe this stunning example which is now dripping on specification deserves such a great set of wheels:

These wheels would naturally sit well inside the wheels arch but on recommendation by Steve @A2Steve, they have been pushed out 20mm all round. They fill the wheel arches perfectly and provide as much improved stance in my opinion.

Aren't those just a huge improvement on the pepperpots 👍 I wasn't sure from the Photoshop mock-ups posted a while back, but these photos show they certainly do work on this car. Does the steering feel any different with the wheel centrelines now being further outboard than before?

Hi Ian,

It does feel a little different but in a positive way so far. I’ve only nipped about on the local roads so far but heading to Hampshire for work tomorrow. Should have a much better understanding if the new geometry by the time I get home tomorrow evening.

Kind regards,

Tom

Yep agreed. This one looks just about perfect now. The wheels really do suit it.
Thank you David,

Of course I agree wholeheartedly. It’s taken a while to get to this stage. This stunner has come on leaps and bounds since the very first commute back in January. Very happy with the results so far. Also super chuffed as I learnt a lot along the way by retrofitting everything myself to date.

Kind regards,

Tom

10 out of 10 Tom - they look great - like they should be OEM 👍👍
Thank you,

Yes I think the wheels suit the car perfectly. They need some attention to look their very best, more so the centre caps as they’ve been DIY refurbished before very poorly. I’ll see what I can do with them or order an expensive new set.

This car really is getting there now ,just a few things to complete on the inside and I’d say job done.

Kind regards,

Tom

I had reservations about 16's with a votex kit, but you've got this spot on Tom. Decent ride comfort with a very unique design and due to the flat face they look larger than they are.

The car looks beautiful.

Hi Steve,

Thanks you Sir. Yes the flat face does visually make them look larger than they are, not quite as comfortable as the Pepperpots but so much better than the 17s I’ve been running for a few days. As it now looks so nice on the outside I’m wondering if I actually need a Votex spoiler. Starting to think it might even spoil the flow of the lines and current presence of the car. Decisions decisions!

Kind regards,

Tom
