Project peperami - (A2Steve)

Not sure how I would explain a missing screen though :)

At least this way I know that a cheap chinese piece of glass isn't being fitted.

My experience with auto glass is the fitter does not care if the screen is removed they have less work to do so they are happier
They get paid from insurance co and as such are happy

And into the paintshop we go :) Looks like it is actually happening now so can allow myself to get excited.

The guys were pleasantly surprised by how much strip down I have done.

Are the rear windows coming out so you have a seam free finish Steve ? Looks a little naked all stripped down like that!!

I'd be tempted to replace those boot vents when they are exposed . Preventative medicine.

Unfortunately not mate. It was another £150 for the quarter windows to be removed as well so had to hit the brakes somewhere. The painter has special tape that pulls back the rubber so will still be a good finish.

Hi

looking at the picture from the rear, I can see the strings from the parachute that it will need to slow you down after testing the BHP

Lol

Please don't Forget to make sure that those rear vents are properly sealed. They get disturbed during the paint job.

If they are not 100% sealed (as I am sure you know) you will have a fish tank where your battery compartment used to be.

Tape that pulls back the rubber . That's clever.

I'm now missing my A2. Spoke to the bodyshop today and they are behind schedule due to problems painting a Quashqai. Looks like I won't be getting mine back until middle of next week.

While Peppa is away at the paint shop, it's given me time to do some research on other things that will need to be upgraded.

I've already got a plan in place to replace the intercooler on the cars return but my thoughts are now on the ticking time bomb known as the DMF.

Can someone please confirm the size of the standard flywheel.

I've been looking at this kit from Darkside but my mechanical knowledge in this area is limited.

Is there any reason why a flywheel designed for a 4 cylinder car won't fit on a 3 cylinder car? I'm wondering whether the imbalance of the 3 cylinders may need a different flyhweel??

Any help greatfully received.

Hi steve. Did u settle on that colour after? I know vag did some great colours many years ago. Helios blue mk1 golf and i think twilight violet and violet touch pearl corrado colours.
I'm sure whatever u decided will look great.

Hmmm. I'm probably no better bud but are the weights to offset the missing section in the push cycle not incorporated into the crankshaft instead? Three cylinders and four strokes and all that? The flywheel carries the rotation through the lacking phase to prime the next compression so I think it's just the mass and size which vary to give sufficient retained energy for the compression, smooth out the power cycle but not introduce too much lag... of course that might be bollocks.
