Social at Saltaire, West Yorkshire Sunday 22 May 2016

My hats off to you all. It's great that you have organised this event. It's a shame I live so far away or I would have loved to have attended. Looks like it will be a great day out for all those going and seems like a good format for future socials in other parts of the country.

Will be great to see many familiar, and quite a few new faces at this social. If the sun is out there will be no finer place to be, and if the sun is not out, then there is plenty to do nearby. Hilary, Dave and I took our research seriously and even visited the pub we intend to go to in order to have a coke and check out the menu. The food looks divine.
 
No particular axe to grind as we have traded our A2 in for an A3 £750!!!!! but oop north hotels are cheap, the natives are (very) friendly and you will have fun whilst wondering how people can live in such squalor. Come on up. We'll give you a good time. Guaranteed!
 
Not long now before our social in Yorkshire

Our plans for the Sunday will run like this...

Meeting at the Saltsmill car park from 9.30 am - Will give precise location details soon after I've confirmed exactly which part of the car park is ours for the day

All day (until around 4.30 ish to spend in Saltaire) - plenty to do (see earlier posts on the thread)

We've arranged with the Dog & Gun pub in Malsis for a meal together from 5.30pm.

Please could you let me know if you're staying on for food so that I can let the pub know in plenty of time. Hopefully this may be early enough for those with a long drive home?

Most regrettably I'm unable to attend. Have a brilliant time. This thread shows the effort that goes into hosting a social. Big shout out for Hilary, Conrad and Ian for all the planning of a regional social and it's a reminder of the work Mike and Vonnie put into the social calendar throughout the year. See some of you soon enough I hope.
 
Another bump to our thread to tempt anyone thinking about attending the first social in Yorkshire

And a big request to please indicate if you'll be staying for food at the pub after Saltaire. There's a possibility we could eat earlier - I need to speak to the pub but at the moment we only have replies from a few of the members attending the event.

So please let me know if you're staying for the meal? How many in your A2? And would an earlier time help? Then we'll try to organise it to suit as many as possible.

Really looking forward to this---if its as sunny as this weekend has been we are in for a real treat with the scenery. Just to confirm we wont be eating due to the drive home. Cheers mike and yvonne

Great that 14 members have signed up on the calendar for the event and a few more have indicated by PM they may be dropping in at Saltaire.

Please, please could you let us know if you'd like to join in with the pub meal after Saltaire. It would really help if you could let us know either way or even if you're undecided just so that we can confirm the numbers with the pub before the end of this week. Add to the thread or let me know by PM. Thank you

Hi all,
Just to clarify we won't be making the meal on the Sunday as it'll make the journey too late home, however, really looking forward to some great driving, scenery and company!
