Special Edition Register

Our A2, currently parked up with a broken gear selector cable is also shown as an SE model on the V5 document.

YD05 *** but currently on a private plate.

1.4 TDI ( BHC) in Black.

Are you sure it's not adjustable? I'm happy to be corrected, but I thought all A2's had steering adjustable not only for rake but also reach. The trip computer was an option for most models, it was only standard on the Sport. The basic A2 was indeed pretty spartan, the Special Edition was essentially a base car but with climate control and a CD player, brought in as a run-out model to shift remaining components.
I went to see a car recently that had been with one family from new. I went to move the column and it was very stiff but freed after a couple of tugs. The owner was dumbfounded: he never knew it was adjustable!

So I know there isnt anything particularly ‘Special’ about them other than being last off the line but is there a register of Special Editions anywhere? Seeing as there were only 600 odd seems like it would be easy to get quite a few tracked down, I also wonder who has the latest registered car on the forum!

90% of them also seem to have no optional extras so would be great to here of any uniquely specified examples.

So Far….

DE05 EZH - Crystal Blue - March 2005
ST05 EDR - Akoya Silver - March 2005
GU05 YSK - Dolphin Grey - March 2005
YE05 WCL - Akoya Silver - June 2005
SR05 EXF - Ebony Black - July 2005
I do not think that my A2 is a limited edition but it has some great factory fit optional extras including:

  • Black leather upholstery;
  • Double Din Multi-CD change in dash;
  • Steering wheel controls on four spoke steering wheel;
  • Moon roof;
  • Rear parking sensors;
  • Rear electric windows.
Think it must have one of the best specs of any A2 out there. Great car and I love it.

The build quality is fab. It has done 126k miles and keeps on going.

I didn't know there were so few specials either. Mine is very basic, except for red leather. Timmus fitted cruise control, which is very nice)

Good evening,

I’m the proud owner of CP05 RLU a TDI Special Edition in Akoya silver that was registered on the 30.6.05.

It came with the following:
Rear bench
Rear electric windows
Front seat Isofix
Audi Symphony CD and tape player player
Winter pack
Rear parking sensors

I love the car to bits -having fallen in love with the colour and spec- with it recently having passed the 120k mark.

I find the forum extremely helpful and informative.

When that car was sold new the dealer must have thought all his Christmas's had come at once. They only made a profit on the extras sold....

Unless it was a demonstrator - agnostic of make and model, they often come spec’d with desirable extras to show them off to customers - my Touran is a good example of this.

Yes I suspect the precise spec was probably pretty unique. Alas I don’t know if it was a demonstrator
On reflection it might well of been. I certainly love the rather left field combination of extras a number of which are really useful having three children. I absolutely love my A2 and intend to keep it for as long as possible.

Great thread btw.

Ps…forgot to add that my beloved also has mud flaps. Don’t know if these were an extra but suspect they probably were.

I’ve just brought a Special Edition registered 30.9.2005 reg OV55BSO surely the newest A2
Unfortunately not I'm afraid ?

It is fairly late but i've seen several '55' reg cars (and owned one previously) but I believe there are also a few '06' registered A2's out there that, like yours were sat at the dealers awaiting purchase and registration after being built early 2005, as hard as that is to believe as many of us (me included) would be snapping one up if we could buy one new now!?

I have a Mauritius blue Special Edition reg VO05UEW that has quite a few options fitted from factory inc;

Heated Twist leather interior
Winter Pack
Factory Sat Nav
OSS
Digital climate control
Audi Symphony head unit
Multi Function steering wheel
Reverse parking sensors
Electric windows front and rear

That’s one heavily optioned car! One of the few Audi actually made money on?!? 😉
