I'm really sad for your loss here - the payout is just an insult. An update. No news of my A2 and the insurance company have deemed it a total loss.
Please do let me know if a shiny votex appears, or heated leather. Or a pretty silver on TT Ronal alloys.
Payout was £750 so if anyone thinks Market Value for their A2s going to be fair then you are wrong. Better get an agreed value policy sharpish.

That is scandalous. Really sorry to hear of your experience. Please let me know the insurer (by pm if need be!) so I can definitely avoid!!!An update. No news of my A2 and the insurance company have deemed it a total loss.

so so sorry to read the outcome of this sorry tail, I'm gutted for you and £750 is justa slap in the faceHello.
I did contact the insurer’s engineering total loss team to argue the price but they said they were bound by the pricing provided by their system.
I’m planning to contact the ombudsman to raise an issue as the car is over 20 years old and pricing is poor for cars that age - especially modern classics with restoration.
I’ve gotten a nice little A3 for now but it’s a bit mundane and uninteresting honestly…
I have ordered a couple of trackers and tags and various bits and bobs for security as well as installed CCTV now. Not too expensive and I think it’s worth it for the peace of mind. Not again!

So, you do have to accept their offer, and then, and only then, do they become the owner. If the car is written off & the insurance company pay you off, they then own the car and 9 out of 10 it ends up in Copart auction, you can ask to buy the car back, some let you have it for as little as a couple of hundred pounds in terms of an A2 to save Copart collection & fees etc.
