The quest for the highest mileage A2 and the 200K Club

Some are quite close though. Mikes old Castle Red one for example is getting close at 168,000 odd so far.

And it is still running very sweetly indeed and now has a very happy new owner.

It is a classic example of how a really well maintained car can go on for ever.

Welcome aboard. Glad you got in touch especially so as your car is so rare. I think I'll have to think about the criteria as to.whether the car has to be on the original engine lol. Would be great to hear what you've had to do to keep it going to that mileage.

I've made a start in the intro section, once it's been moderated.

That sound like me. I usually record the starting mileage in order to find out the exact distance only to forget to check it upon arrival:eek:
And I don't reset a trip counter as I like to keep an eye on my fuel consumption.

Boris

and just to confirm only engine work has been timing belts and tensionsers / waterpumps and a thermostat, I have to say that that it remarkable in my experience

I agree, I got my No:1 in June 2009 with 99300m on the clock. Had a head gasket problem, sorted it out with new cam belt, water pump etc. converted km it went to 325000km when my son had a close encounter with a pole. In the time I had it only servicing and another belt and pump were done. THE BEST CAR I EVER HAD!

It's not that uncommon, my 1986 coupe has 380,000 miles with no engine or gearbox work.
