The Welsh social - A jolly around the Welsh mountains

*****Keeping the directions information current so it doesn’t get lost in the thread****

Right guys, although this social is hopefully going to be very relaxed, I don't think it will do any harm to have an itinerary.

I've included satnav co-ordinates rather that providing maps on the day as I would imagine most people will be using a satnav to find your way to the start point.

Sarge, Darren C and myself will be ensuring nobody goes off track but the postcodes are there if needed.

So...

CF48 2YF - Meeting point at Asda superstore car park Merthyr Tydfil, on the left at entrance. 10am meet for a 10:30am start.

NP23 5EY - Start of B4059 mountain road.

NP8 1NL - Llangynidr

LD3 7YQ - Talybont-on-usk

CF48 2UF - Pontsticill

CF48 2HY - Midday stop at the Nant Ddu Lodge (for lunch and a get together) up to 2 hours

CF47 8PA - Then on to Cyfartha Castle museum and gardens. I'm hoping we'll get the space to get a good group shot infront of the castle.

Any questions before saturday please feel free to ask and if not see you saturday. Drive safe all :)

Hi,

I will be bringing the bonnet to the event so that someone can then take it from me and continue its long journey around Britain.

Can we have a volunteer to "pick up the baton" please.

This is a great charity and we need to make sure that we keep up the momentum.

It fits into the back of an A2 if you fold the rear seats down, so we need it to be someone who can do this.

There is not long left for this years journey, so please can we make sure that we continue to be involved in the charity and the journey that the bonnet is taking?

Thanks everyone.

Steve B

I'd welcome the opportunity to sign the bonnet during the trip and if appropriate take a photo with it on my car. Perhaps at a suitable break area if time allows.

A full car for me, so sadly I am ruled out taking it forward.

Hi Darren. There will be an opportunity at the restaurant and also at the Castle if everyone stays until the end so plenty of nice photo opportunities.

That is great Steve. To have opportunities to get the camera out and click away with such a great collection of cars in attendance, and in such a beautiful part of the country, ticks my boxes Squire.

I'm happy to take it North if that works for people. I can then get it on team Storm before they go their different ways.

I think it will be something for Hilary to decide seeing as she is doing all the background work on this, but if it still has momentum and is continuing to raise money then why let it end after a 12 month? Why not see how long we can keep ot going.

On a completely different subject, for anyone travelling to this social from a London direction I'd highly recommend coming via the M4 rather than across country. It takes about half the time.

Great if you can take the Bonnet up North James. We have to get it to Scotland and even better if we can see it on any/all of the Storms

Good idea to keep the fund-raiser going to give more members the opportunity - hasn't been to Essex/South East yet either.

thanks everyone for keeping the Bonnet moving

Hi everyone. I just spoke to my garage and I'm definitely going to be Mabeless this weekend. Inwill come down in a hurry car and try to cadge a space riding shotgun for the drive.
That does leave a space for a car if there were any others interested
Otherwise ill see you all at the weekend! Safe journey everyone

Really sorry to read this T and sincerely hope Mabel will be back on the road early next week.

Echo your drive safe everyone comment; especially you T in a 'hurry car'... :p

Oops - my spelling is a tad iffy today!

Yes, I had a long discussion with the garage today. I think he has learnt a lot about A2's over the past few weeks. He said you mend one thing and then there is something else. I said, yes, they do that! I think he will be pleased to get her out of his garage to be honest. I'm planning on leaving around lunchtime so should be at the Travelodge about 6ish. I can't remember whether we said we were going to go out to eat or not, but I know there is a Nando's and McD's if necessary :)

I'm not sure what time we will arrive as yet.

We aren't with the majority in the Travelodge, possible that we will just stay at the Premier Inn Friday, chill and relax after the drive (and have a beer or two).

Fantastic,

Thanks James.

I don't know if you could put it in the back of your car before we set off on Saturday?

The reason is that I want to offer Teresa a lift and with the bonnet in the back their isn't a spare seat!

But if you can't then not a problem I am sure that there will be PLENTY offer a seat to her.

Cheers
Steve B
