Have you checked the earth strap from the starter to the chassis (in the engine area to the right, well hidden)
If you haven't then I would bet that this will be the cause. You need to undo it and clean the fact of the bolt and the body where it mounts to.
You can also check before you do it by using a battery jump lead with one end on a decent earth point and the other end a gripped onto the starter.
I have had several mechanics tell me my starter needed replacing and the battery, when it was just a bad earth.

Steve.
This new toy display was clearly geared ( excuse the PUN ) for auto vehicles but is being marketed as an A2 none OEM improvement and is, although it does appear to be A2 Anomalous, that said I would wish it to be spot on for the sums involved and considering what is available on Ebay like head up displays which are inexpensive in comparison and simpler to fit for your average DIY A2r. we all can make choices and this is one I do not require as my Display is fine due to our colder climate but should Timmus perfect this imperfection of an A2 update and our climate rises to affect my DIS I will just turn it o ff ski, and save myself some RBS dosh.
Can you tell me what steering wheel that is it looks well thanks.

As Al says above, this was originally a tiptronic steering wheel, designed for changing gears on an automatic. Physically, it is exactly the same as the 3-spoke Sport steering wheel fitted to the A2, except it has the up/down buttons. I have created a custom control module that intercepts the gear change commands and converts them into stereo commands. As such, the right-hand buttons control volume and the left-hand buttons control track skipping, radio tuning, etc.
At present, it is the only Sport multifunction steering wheel in existence.
Cheers,

I would have all the mods available the only thing stopping me is the funds. The 'P' in the middle of the display at the bottom indicates that the hand brake is on. When you release the hand brake, it displays an 'N' when in neutral or displays numbers 1 through 6 to indicate which gear is selected. When dipping the clutch, it also displays an 'N'.
It is an essential feature when fitted to the automatic 1.2TDI but it also works when fitted to a manual vehicle. Contrary to what E T Oddie says, Colour DIS is not designed for automatic vehicles; it's designed for both automatics and manuals. Some may argue that it's not necessary to have a manual vehicle tell you which gear you've selected, but it's just one of the many features of Colour DIS. More modern manual Audis have this feature as well. E T Oddie might think of this as an imperfection, but I get a growing impression that he enjoys criticising the products and services that I offer.
If anyone can find a product on eBay that can do everything that Colour DIS can do in a way that's elegantly integrated, I'd be keen to know about it.
Eamonn, we all have different priorities when it comes to our cars. Some people want to buy a cheap A2 and enjoy budget motoring, taking advantage of the low tax bracket, low insurance costs and great fuel economy. Others, however, really enjoy adding features to their A2 and wish to create miniature luxury limos. In my work on A2s, I cater for the entire spectrum, but many of the upgrades that I offer appeal mostly to those who wish to do the latter. If you don't wish to invest in such things, that's entirely your choice, but I'd appreciate it if you stopped trying to pick holes in my work. For instance, since I launched the all-alloy intercooler, you've made numerous sarcastic comments about its cost. I invest huge amounts of time and effort in creating things that many, many people on this forum enjoy, and it's difficult not to take your stream of snide remarks personally.
Cheers,
Tom
By the way, as far as “heads up” displays go, this is why I took mine out straight away.
Great idea but the windscreen causes double vision.
That was not due to the kit I used all of them reflect off the screen in the same way.
This was not a double exposure, it really did look like that.
Which is a pity because I like the idea.
Also, in the daytime you get to see the reflection of all of the unlit LED layouts.
So so even though these are cheap at around £25or so, they are very dear because it is £25 wasted.
