Today I.....

Today i ......

Spent a few hours cleaning my A2 ...

This was bought as spares, repair project and has now gained a full MOT with no advisories !

All new mintex brakes back and front .
Handbrake cables.
Rear brake lines , new brake fluid .
4 new wheel bearings .
New varta battery .
Wiperblade and a few bulbs .....

Ive scrubbed all interior plastics with degreaser and what a difference it has made with little effort... it has actually come up a different colour !!

Exterior polished with Autoglym deepshine., after this was buffed off i applied a coat of Autoglym extra gloss protection ...when this is buffed off after an hour it reveals a deep , highly reflective shine ....
Also some tyre shine .

As i bought this with no history im planning on a full service , including the timing belt .

Also sort out the suspension and bushes..

Really happy with this wee A2

Anyone know the correct headunit to attach to these cables....

Thanks in advance ...

Stevie

The connectors look the same as my Concert II I think but isn’t it listed in the car spec what stereo was fitted?

WOW! That was a quick service - well done Steve and Stevie (like that isn't going to get confusing!)

You'll need to dig out your mixtapes now :)

I had already bought the unit from steve last month but the lack of cables had me thinking .....

Today I... finally got my heated seat working, reconnected my dash cam so it doesn’t power off with the heated mirrors and fixed the sunken button on my stereo!
Now on to the rest of the list...

Dropped into Lancaster to have the Colour DIS dropped in. I think it complements the Multi Function Sports Steering Wheel nicely.

Thanks to Timmus for taking time out on a Sunday.

Very tasty, I expect to see a whole raft of colour DIS pictures coming over the next few weeks :)

Did you have it fitted to a Petrol or Diesel vehicle? I ask as I wanted to know what the P in the centre bottom row denotes Petrol or Diesel vehicle.

The P is the Gear you are in.

On a manual it still shows as a P.

Amazingly it can calculate what gear you are in by the speed and revs.

That is impressive.

Oh ! The P is for the gear that you are in, that is a new feature for manual vehicles then that I had never heard about, indeed that must bring them right up to date in with exactly the opposite display settings that an auto ,semi auto and DSG Gearboxes have. the pic does look like the A2 is layed up not in gear whilst the engine is ticking over, clearly very cleaver stuff this new screen. I presume it has a D on that display that is to indicate Parked. Now I can understand why Range Rovers had Allegro door handles fitted for arsethetics.

I think that displaying a "P" is not great but with all of the other features this brings including showing you which gear you are in without any sensor or physical connection to the gearbox is quite clever, it would not bother me.

Are you not a fan of the "Colour DIS" then?

It is best to wait until Tom can comment on this "P" and whether it can be programmed out or not, before we say too much about it.

It may even turn out that the "P" indicates that the parking brake is on, that might be the reason.
