Today I.....

You're welcome Neil, I've just got home. It took me about 3/4 hour to get out of the services, having spent probably half an hour getting in, just hope the 2 hour limit doesn't count driving ...
I got out very quick as I had to refuel and that sxig was clear and bought me to the front of the queue.

... travelled to Skye in my newly acquired A2 Dolphin grey Tdi. Utterly brilliant little thing it is too. Carefully maintained by previous owner John the car looks like new, drives like new and feels dependable and reliable to drive on a reasonably long journey to Skye from Glasgow. An effortless 65mpg whilst making progress and cruising speaks volumes as to how well this A2 has been looked after. Not even a mark on the interior soft touch controls and a good wash, clay bar, polish and wax has brought up the paint work like new. Brilliant little buggy :)

And very nice she is too, as is Skye. The dinosaur footprints at Staffin are high on my to do list. Liking the wheels, really looking forward to getting my pepperpots fitted.

The pepperpots are great, I love the retro look and for the roads as they are presently the deep profile tyres are perfect for comfort.

Staffin ah yes we've been before but no footprints visible that time, dependant on how the tides have been as the sand washes up and covers the footprints, would be cool to see for sure. Quairang today and then Old Man of Storr :)

Aren’t the roads in Skye extremely bumpy? I had a friend break his 4x4s suspension there.
It is beautiful there however and your car is excellent.

Great look with the pepperpots against the Dolphin Grey ....... If your feeling peckish be sure to visit "The Oyster Man " on the wee road above the Talisker Distillery . Fresh seafood platter , enjoyed outside on the bench overlooking the bay .

Skye roads are much like many other roads in Scotland, in need of proper maintenance. The A82 (our main route to NW including Skye), one of the main tourist routes is atrocious in places, yet the rewards are incredible.

We took Barry out for a run up to our local National Trust property, Gunby Hall, but it was closed due to the waterlogged carpark! We had a ride round Skegness, which was actually a crawl around Skegness. It was very busy with lots of visitors checking if their coats were waterproof. Not bright enough for a photo as Barry is silver and disappears in the rain. We hope the weather improves for next weekend's get together. See you there.

I decided to take this to boxy

As the paint work is a bit rough in places

Few passes and the results are much better

At least now I can see what needs painting and what doesn’t all in all a good few hours of graft but the rain and hale stopped progress ?..

Today I remembered when the wife took the A2 to work exactly 5 years ago. She phoned on arrival at the office to say a wheel was somehow totally flat! I immediately hung up on her knowing what a joker she was and how annoyed I’d be.......except she wasn’t kidding ?‍♀️

Today I installed a Depronman Remap :)
Great service from Paul even though he was on holiday at the time. The remap is well worth the money for the increase in performance, the engine (AMF) is now much smoother at higher revs with lots of additional mid-range torque. If you are tempted then I would definitely recommend this upgrade.

In addition, as the sun was shining today, I tempted fate and removed my winter wheels/tyres...
Replaced them with 16" SE wheels fitted with Uniroyal Rain Expert 3, 195/55/16. They fill out the arches nicely but are still not as comfy as the Pepperpots:

Looking good, any rubbing? I ask as I've ordered 205/45R17 for the wifes FSI and they're a very similar diameter. What tyre size were you using on the pepperpots?
Another happy depronman remap user here, I smile every time I drive it.

No rubbing noted but I've only done a few miles so far without any passengers.
The winter tyres on the Pepperpots were a lot smaller (and lighter) at 175/60R15.

Not as technically adept as everyone on here.. but got the bonnet off VEM for the first time. Only to change headlamp bulb... straigh forward job, thanks to articles on here and you tube guides.. Must say after a month of ownership, even more impressed with A2... Will start considering remap for next job...

I can sort the remap for you when you are ready
Drop me a pm
Cheers Paul

Today my cupholders arrived from siroccorrado, thanks very much, and decided to try and remove the stereo to fit them.

Looking at the facia of my stereo I am fairly sure that someone has tried to remove it before and made a complete arse of it! Now I can only get the right hand side to release and the left hand side won't budge. I have a service arranged for Wednesday so I will ask and see if they have any better luck than me!

Think I may need to look at getting a replacement Concert I head unit or a Concert II and fitting the Can Bus adapter but they seem to be £80 by themselves.

Cheers,
Steven
