Today I.....

Today I swapped out the 17" wheels that came with the car with OEM 17" wheels.

I'd been told that the old alloys were not OEM, although they looked like a good copy. I didn't think twice that their dimensions were different; turns out, they were. The non-OEMs were 17x7.5 ET35 (OEM are 17x7 ET38).

Now that I have the OEM wheels fitted, I kind of miss how the (slightly) stretched 205 tyres looked on the 7.5. That, and the additional offset, made for a subtle but unique stance.

....Today I.... was wondering whether sciroccorrado had fully sorted his new tool kit and decided which of the draws that were dedicated to the A2 and if the 4F would get any draw that all..... :)

it is easy to be happy on other members behalf when one see such a nice tool kit :):)

8Z gets a big box, the 4F doesn't get a dedicated draw, but the 53 does :)

Spotted another A2 in La Cala De Mijas (unable to take a photo of the last one). FSI with 5 seat red leather and red steering wheel. Heading home shortly to get back to my A2s, Peugeot 308 doing nothing for me (other than the obvious job of getting from A to B). :)

Today I made the single longest journey in my A2 since owning it. Was hoping for more MPG and less mooing in the 130 miles or so.

Today my A2 1.4 TDI passed the MOT so now she has 13 months MOT left.

Last year there were no advisories but this time I was advised that I need to replace the nearside drop link.

Is this a difficult job and would the tracking need to be adjusted afterwards please?

Thanks

No need for tracking adjustment if only changing drop link
In theory a bolt off and bolt on job
However be prepared to cut through the bolts with an angle grinder and cutting disk as they tend to spin

Changed the thermostat/element housing finally. The manilfold flap actuator fix appears to be working as there is no flat spot in the rev range, now it needs a calibration to make sure. Replaced the spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter and also replaced some stubborn hoses. There is a good chance that the pipe at the back that connects the coolant pump and the thermostat housing aseembly might have been "DIY'ed" in the past and it could be leaking. A "Y" shaped plastic tube near the expanson tank broke just by watching it, spraying hot water everywhere!

Today I took my FSi for an Italian tune up around the country lanes.Blew out some cobwebs and the handling is superb. However why do cyclists find the need to ride side by side? Do they not realise they don't own the road, I do..:p

Today my Open Sky became Closed Sky, as something, a wire? snapped on drivers side (left), and I had to close it manually with the attached allen key. Also the brake pad wear sign came up, which is good to know, and a week ago, the engine that locks the trunkdoor said thank you.

Today, well yesterday actually, our partially open sky became fully open sky. Not completely there yet but now I understand how the thing works a DIY is do-able.

Sun is shining so I gave my TDI a lovely clean inside and out this morning before heading to the shops where disaster struck. When I returned to the car I noticed that my rear passenger light cluster had been smash and the car scraped by a black car! Gutted. No note or anything left.

Most of the damage has polished out luckily....looks like the light bought the worst of the collision. Will place an add in the 'wanted' section but keen to hear from anyone who has a rear passenger light cluster in A1 condition for my A2. Thanks. Paul
