Today I.....

I have just filled up and over the last ¾ tank which was 365 miles it was 23.6litres just under 70 mpg
A change from 17” sports wheels to 15” running 175 tyres as also added about 5mpg to the town / local running around. This made little to no difference on motorway running I guess because the motorways Areca log smoother and therefore the extra mass of the wheel and tyre makes less of a difference
There is a massive weight difference from the 17 sports wheels to the 15’s I would guess at at least 5kg per wheel

I need to look at my economy. I get 55 to a gallon - mostly motorway. What kind of things could be wrong to cause that?!? Remap will hopefully improve it but still!

thermostat is the most likely cause then the engine temp sender unit, if either of these is not working correctly the ECU is been told the wrong temperature and will therefore apply the wrong fueling map, there is around 1/2 as much extra fuel injected on the 40 - 60deg C map as the 90 deg C map.

Everything else pails into insignificance until these two things are sorted

....hit a milestone - and yes, I know it's filthy!

I filled up today and got 69.4mpg according to fuelly.com - but then I generally cruise at 65mph

Yesterday, sorry I am slow, I got this on a slow (smart) motorway after 100 miles or so. I did not complete my journey though without a pit stop as I bottled it.
Fuelly I joined recently, tells me Im doing well too !
the colour dis shows ambient temp, instnt mpg,oil temp, average mpg, volts and boost.

My heater blower is working by it self. Sometimes it is working, sometimes not.

Today my order arrived and will change heater blower resistor because heater blower is fine.

In some cases the right foot needs adjustment also.

very respectable MPG figures, 60 to 65 mph is the optimum for economy
I think you will find 50-55mph will give you more mpg, the lower revs the better as long as you are staying ok in top gear.
Can anybody beat my 675miles on one tank ? Obviously on big tank so I hope RAB cannot compete ;) I filled up to first click with 39l

87mpg across an entire tank takes dedication. Well done!

Today I'm about to embark on a full strip down of Sam's car @A2Sam ready for its respray next week. It's the last time this car will look like this. On Monday morning it's being taken to the bodyshop for a full respray so it's a roof out, windscreen out job. Will post some photos once it's stripped.

Excited to see this project take shape, excited for Sam, though no doubt not quite as excited as her... :) Amazing work for a days activity mate, shows just how adept and skilled you have become at trim removal. Good luck.

I would swap A2Sams car body with mine any day pre-spray, very intrigued as to what's coming !
Sorry to confuse the full tank was 77.9mpg, but did include a trip into the city. The trip was 87mpg,still on two snowtyres:rolleyes:

Finally replacing the n/s front spring - and going to have to now do the o/s as I decided it would be a 'good' idea to do the shocks whilst I was replacing the spring...
Anyway - I was just about to fit it and noticed the spring is more 'square' at one end - ie at one end the helix of the spring continues (and thus makes contact with only a small amount of the spring) whilst at the other end (bottom?) it seems to be more 'square' allowing more of the spring to sit flush on the mounting. Hard to describe...
Is this normal? - Oh it's a Kilen spring.IMG_20180609_191337.jpgIMG_20180609_191357.jpg

UPDATE:
It was confusing the hell out of me, as the previous spring "appeared" to have the angled end at the top, and fitting it this was was obviously incorrect.
When I then tried it the other way up the angle fitted into the shock mount leaving the squared end to mount against the upper bearing. Still not convinced the previous spring was the right way up though!
