Today I.....

Went out this morning and started up my 02 TDI As it was frozen solid... after 5 mins the webesto kicked in shortly after that I switched the car off as I wanted to Lock the house up.... there was a big thick plume of smoke come from the engine bay, I am i right in thinking it’s burning off the unused diesel?

I believe the thick plums of smoke is from webasto... mine does it

Today I swapped the front end of my sons pearlescent green £225 Tdi
Parts not bad for £85.
For around £400 all in a nice Tdi with working OSS and ice cold air con in a great colour!

Took about 5 hours to complete.

Not 100% sorted just yet by a whole lot better!

Prepped the colour storm for its photo session to get the best valuation for the insurance company.......
I presume you are referring to Agreed Minimum Value insurance rather than just the value for normal insurance. Do tell us how you get on and which insurance company you used. This is a topic which I think more and more A2 owners are going to grapple with as we increase our investment to keep our cars on the road in tip top condition.

Yes sure will i did it two years ago but let it lapse last year.

MOT passed today with flying colours thank God. Tester even mentioned it was the best condition car with almost 140k on the clock he had ever put through.

Emissions reading was around 0.67 a little higher than I've read on here for the 75 (usually in the 40s?) but given this is a 90 is this about right?

I believe the VVT makes the smoke test values a little higher than the std turbo.
you are allowed 3.5 so 0.67 is still very good

My tdi75 (remapped) was 0.18 much to my delight and the annoyance of a 14 plate BMW drivers who's 3 series had just failed at 0.82 (against a limit of 0.6 to the plate or 0.75 to the age limits)

Cheers,

Today I called into see Basil , and the brand spanking new short engine , 6 speed MYP gear box has turned up, turbo is off for reconditioning and overhaul
It is nearly time for WOM to start the rebuild , drop off a range of futher parts and spares ready for the icing on the cake ....

So looking forward to getting this car back !!!

Today I changed the fuel pump in tank and the fuel filter, hope this cures the stopping after 4 or 5 short drives, also bled the clutch (what a difference). The fsi gods been smiling today. All I need now is to wake up tomorrow and the flaps miraculously fixed

Interesting because my mot man looked up the figure for me when my A2 was mot’ed a couple of months ago. And for the age and no plate found said it was 3.5. Maybe younger a2’s Dropped to the 3 limit. Mine is a 2001 my
Cheers. Paul
