Today I.....

Sunday I swapped over the bolster on one side of the sport base, you have to cut a slot along from underneath up to the metal bar, then cut the side off and peel it up away from the bar. Glued it back on with contact adhesive. I chose to swap the passenger to the drivers at the same time. Very pleased :)

Finished of mods with a snow foam wash to clear dirt from a trip to Blackpool with my family. Got to say viewing the lights with open sky is amazing, I was happier than my kids ?

Happy A2ing

Today I've just bought a set of pepper pots from eBay for winter wheels. Next step, tire choice....

Andrew

My pepperpots arrived today. They came fitted with "Autogrip" tyres.
According to the review on tyrereviews.co.uk they are a "Brilliant tyre if in the wet you are amused by wheelspin, sliding around and ESP systems going crazy. "
I think I will replace them with a set of Dunlop Winter Sport 5s as recommended here!

Andrew

This evening I .... reclaimed what feels like half my house!

First I reorganized all the A2 stuff in my spare room, into boxes of bits that I'm selling and more boxes of bits that are waiting to go on my TDI. A lot of it doesn't want to fit into boxes! :( Think A, B, C-pillar trims ... I have two sets of those in there at the moment, plus other long things like a bonnet vent, a number plate panel, a lower grille, and a later style scuttle. Luckily I had just enough large boxes that I could put these things in end-on, and a wall to store them against. Then with some decent space available in there, I was finally able to move out of my living room the Twist seats from my breaker that I've finished with, and its front carpets, and get them into the spare room - so that's three sets of seats in there now!

Hi Dads Taxi,
I’ve been running these for 2 winters & they are excellent, I’m sure you will be pleased with your choice.

Keith.

Thank you for the recommendation / endorsment. I normally use Kleber Krisalp but couldn't find any locally and found these instead.

Made a big effort to tidy the garage yesterday morning, just to make a space for my A2. Managed a quick clean and polish before the rain came, then tucked it a way for the winter. I'm still in touch with the previous owner, who is a family friend and now 80 years old, she was delighted to hear that her little car has a roof over it's head for the wet cold months ahead. She was also quick to point out (again) that's how she'd kept it in such great condition all it's life, before selling it to me. The car only does a couple of school runs each week, but demisting the windows on cold mornings takes to long. This won't be an issue now, but probably means I'll be discouraged from ever venturing out if the weather looks bad, or if I think it might get dirty. So for now, I think l'll just let it hybernate in it's warm stable for the next few months, and only take it for runs when the sunshines.

Today I have a go at fixing project shed ...

Partly successful, resolved a Fault light , and sorted out the flashing glow plug light Striped down the earth point for the engine/ starter motor , and regreased the planet gears in the starter motor
Checked over the whole car , ready for the MOT next Friday
Last year , project shed recorded a minor advisory item , “ both wishbones have light corrosion “ so interested to see how last winter has taken a toll

I also removed the front cup holders , fixed one , the other needs a replacement , so I’m the look out for a good used one ...

Used the following Fault code reader , which is very good for my level of skills , good level of information, and can see live data , record information etc
