Today I.....

Have got one here if you still need one pal.
Hi,
I have attached an image of the part No of the one I took off and the battery / tool storage all fit into a fibre glass insert in the boot floor.
Mine has s long, large crack in it from a rear shunt the car had a few years back by the previous owner, hence it being written off at the time. If you have one of these as well it will be another job on my list, might as well fix it properly.
Probably be tomorrow night when I get back to you, busy day tomorrow.
The rain here has been pretty bad, at least not as bad as the Lakes & maybe your way.
Cheers Stan.

Today I had a long trip in Akoya - From where I live near Axminster in the Blackdown Hills an errand took me up the A303 and A350, through Somerset to Melksham in Wiltshire, on via Marlborough to the spectacularly beautiful North Wessex Downs to Hungerford in Berkshire; then onto the M4, ending up at Maidenhead, a distance of around 170 miles or so.

I do love long journeys in this car cruising at 66-70 mph, I hardly have the radio on, typically choosing instead to listen to the subdued hum of the engine throbbing away at 1850-2000 rpm in sixth, along with the various other background noises the car makes - I find it more relaxing to do this and let my mind half wander (whilst of course focusing on the road in front and traffic around me), rather than listening to music.

One very small job that made a huge difference to the pleasure of the drive was achieved through replacing the wiper blade: The one that came off was a Bosch and although much improved by being given a good clean so that it wiped properly rather than smearing the water on the screen, it was still only just about adequate and obviously past its best. The one I replaced it with was a genuine Audi eBay bargain I had bought some time ago and hence had in stock. Now the performance of it by comparison is amazing - one sweep and the screen is dry! I really don’t know why I didn’t change it earlier considering I had the new one the whole time.

We will wait to see what Andy says but this was discussed a little back in 2017 and I am not hopeful you can easily replace the toolkit/battery moulding well, sorry to be pessimistic. The problem is it will be bonded to the surrounding aluminium which will have to be good to form a weatherproof seal, after all the other side is the outside world if I have this right. I hope I am wrong.

It is available at Audi Tradition if you have a way round their refusal to trade with the UK, but fear for the cost of shipping.

Hi Phil, sorry I didn't have time to chat away, I was trying to beat the rain, which I managed justin the nick of time!!! Was great to put a face to the name, and glad you are pleased with your new slam panel.
As always, this group is full of amazing folk, very knowledgeable and pleasant to boot.
You'll be pleased to know that Nathan's car was back up and running by the time I left, another one saved ???
No problem, you had a job to do and did it. I thought the alternator was going to need further attention. Another saved, well done. .

Morning Andy,
Thanks for that, sounds like it will be better to tidy it up as there are no leaks from anywhere even though it has quite a crack in it. Some good bonding & sealer can only improve it and the finish.
Cheers Stan

Unfortunately this is a job too far for me to remove, I have had a go in the past and gave up after about 1hr, it really isn't worth the hassle to be honest.

Must agree now that Andrew gave me the details. My first impression was that it was bolted into place with a sealing strip / gasket and then sealer around the edges.
Obviously the wrong call.
Good job this forum is here. ?
Just the radio unit then.

Today I jumped in the car at 8am to set off on the short (13 mile) commute to work, or not, clutch pedal straight to the floor..?

Had to bring the boxster out of its slumber instead

Today I..... hit another car with wife's BHC.
Luckily, it was just me in the car. Both airbags released. Speed-difference approx 30MPH....
The front was pushed in, radiator and AC radiator punctured.
In a normal situation it would be an insurance case but the additional electrical heating makes this car unique.....

1h after, the A2 was towed to my house, a donor was organized, and stripping started. with good help from friends.
18h later all is fixed except from air bags and downpipe...

This was my first crash and first time to change dash (what a job....)
I will need some help to complete the airbag sensor job, but that will be in an other post

One learning is that the A2 feels like a very safe car :)

Also good to know that the airbag integrity is still intact, but why did passenger side operate with out an occupant on the seat?
My understanding of the operating principle is that the sensor in the seat determines deployment.
Glad you are ok & car suitably repaired.
Keith.

The passenger seat was empty and I wonder too why the passenger side airbag operate... (same for the belt tensioner)

I seem to remember that the dual air bag system fitted to the A2 WILL deploy both air bags in a frontal collision. The exception to this is ISOFIX fitted cars that have the passenger air bag disable switch in the glovebox, and turned off.

That would explain it
