Removed the inlet manifold on my FSI.
Had a fulldetailing session
Another job done today. Car should pass it's MOT next month with no advisories now. Last year it had one for "deteriorated headlight blah blah"
Not quite perfect but it's a hell of an improvement.

Looks great, what was your technique?
Used lots of wet & dry, alternating left to right & up and down between grades. Started with 400, 800, 1200, 1800, 2400, 3200 & 4000. Some guide online says you can start with 1200 but I tried it and it didn't even touch it. Lots of water, rinsing between passes. It's also good to let the paper soak for a bit before starting.
Where do you guys find any grades above 1200?! I can't find anything better than 1200, polishing right after 1200 doesn't help at all.
You can get up to 2500 from Halfords, I had some left over from another project. The really fine grades you can get from Amazon if you're stuck.
You should be able to find Abralon pads in 2000 and 4000.

Before...
... and after...
... I found out I had a pair of spare headlights lying in the garage
I'll try to polish the bad one anyway...
Today the engine light came on - again - after I deleted it with a standard cheap diagnostic tool.
I guess then that it's either the first lamda sone, the second (nox?) or lamda sone, or air flow sensor.....or maybe a coil pack failure?
It runs ok, but it har a somewhat uneven accelleration.....anyones guess before I take it to a garage to be ripped off? It's a 2004 1,6 FSI.
