Evening,Finally got round to a considered attempt at removing my "volume fault" radio and replacing. It was well and truly stuck due to the catch on one side being turned inside out. As per the guides on here I pulled the lower cubby, popped out the climate control panel (surprisingly easy) and then could put some pressure on from behind the stereo. Out it popped! HOORAY.
As well as the fault there was some very iffy wiring for a long gone sub-woofer under the seat that I traced back to a phono converter under the steering wheel trim. It was rather poorly taped to the supply/speakers so now thats gone and the cars a kilo lighter and less likley to randomly catch fire. Now I have a usable stereo and can listen to the Disney compilation TAPE I found in the Christmas decorations box (really)
The replacement has mild pixilation so im probably going to take it apart and see if I can face swap it with the old one that was fine, Christmas holls project.
Reading your later post I now realise you are dealing with a tape player and my previous post might not be as useful, sorry.Hey @2work posting that under my post about fitting a Tape player is a bit harsh dont you think!
(ps looks a cool project, impressive stuff)

Oooh. Me like!!!Today I...
Well literally minutes ago I got in from work and went back out to Project OEM to test the new Splash Screen function on the new latest RNS-E PCBBC firmware.
This is just a couple of minutes work getting the image to the correct dimensions and pixels. I’ll get more imaginative in the coming days, but my RNS-E now presents me with this upon the key going in the ignition:

I’ll try an actual photograph of my A2 next but home renovations tasks are waiting so I’ll do this another time.
Kind regards,
Tom

Oh for a blank CD....Evening Ian,
I just couldn’t wait to see what a picture would look like. I obviously need to take a decent photo and get the dimensions correct but there certainly is potential here:
