Today I.....

Good to meet up with you again Tom.
Great to hear that your solution to having too many Votex kits.......is to source another A2.
True enthusiast. 👍
Hi Al,

Yes it’s a logical thing to do I think. Some might think I’m mad but l should have capacity to conjure something up with my spares I have accumulated.

We don’t really need another A2 so this next project will no doubt be sold at the end of its pampering phase. It’ll possibly be named ‘Community Project’ or similar where everyone can be involved and suggest what retrofits I add along the journey. It’s just an idea at this stage but could easily become reality if I can find the right base car for the right money.

Kind regards,

Tom

Tdi or open to petrol?
Hello Edd.

Not really thought that far ahead regards engine type so open to anything. To be honest it doesn’t really matter I suppose as it’ll not be a keeper so will no doubt be up for grabs at the end of the upgrade process; unless a family member is in need of an A2.

I suppose the deciding factor will be what A2s are available when I’m ready to commence. It’ll have to be a reasonably decent A2 to start with to keep the costs down to allow a reasonably priced A2 that boasts a very hush specification at the end.

Hope that makes sense.

Kind regards,

Tom

fitted another yaw rate sensor , yay . and vandalised my a2 some more.

Today, I puchased a set of wheels from a member here in Evesham. Nice chap, and the wheels are excellent. He has a dark metallic green TDI75 with beige interior and a full set of mudflaps. Lovely car. Thanks if you read this! Also- last week, my car was serviced and MOT'd by WOM. As before, absolutely impeccable service from Rob and Marcus.

Hello all,

Today I… Got the NOS A8 D2 wheel centre caps out of their plastic bags ready for fitting to the new set of wheels:

Shiny and new, but not for much longer as they’re about to be put to good use after being hidden away for some 20 years.

Kind regards,

Tom

Bought a set of 5 x SE wheels (came also with 4 centres caps) to have a go at refurbishing them to replace mine that are a bit shoddy. At £60 for the lot I thought it's worth a shot.
Can anyone recommend the best wheel paint to use to get close to the original finish?
Cheers Dave

Thanks I'll see if I can find that anywhere

I’d recommend a 2K paint and 2K lacquer if you have the means to apply it. Air feed mask is a must as it’s nasty stuff
The durability of the finish is second to none
You can get most of the sanding done with a DA sander and etch primer
Lost count of the amount of these SE wheels I’ve refurbished

Thanks Paul. I don't have any means to do 2k paint unfortunately or anywhere but outside to apply it either. Is wheel refurb one of your services you offer??

Hello again all.

I guess I should have provided a picture of the centre caps that come with the first set of these wheels that I’ve been using for the last few months.

Here you go:

Such a difference and very happy with the refreshed look.

I got mine powder coated. Much better and more durable.

I'd love to if possible, but not sure I can justify the cost, if you don't mind me asking roughly what does it cost per wheel?

There is a spot in Birmingham that does them at £20 a wheel it you take rims without tyres

I’m not sure a fan of powder coating as it’s quite soft. I like the prime spray and lacquer ideally all 2K
Very durable finish and much easier to touch up when the rim edge gets caught on that curb that you didn’t see

I got mine done for £40 per wheel. Its a hard finish and has proved very durable since done 12 months ago. Easy to clean, no brake dust collects and I was also charged £10 per wheel extra to fit and balance my new tyres at the same time.
