Today I.....

Knowing how cool the 1.4 tdi runs that radiator is definitely overkill. Although I do not like the air filter set up at all.
The whole setup is pretty dubious I reckon.. It is just to launch his boat, so it only has to get a mile down the road and onto the beach. The idea is fibreglass body, galvanised chassis, and 4wd should be a winner for boat launching. It is MOT and tax exempt as well! :)

Nice weather today so managed to do some jobs at the front end:

- Changed dog-bone mount
- Changed oil & filter
- Changed air filter
- Changed drops for Meyle HD ones
- Fitted ATE ceramic pads and coated disks (noticed O/S disk cover dust plate is missing completely - so thats another job to add to the list!)
- Postponed changing the gearbox oil as was too stupid to think of looking at the front of the gearbox for the filler plug 🥴

If its nice again tomorrow I'll have a go at the back,

- New drums and shoes (and maybe cylinders) to fit
- Bottom spring mounts
- Attempt to get the handbrake to work properly (hoping its just the wedges seized in the old parts) and badly adjusted
- Fuel filter
I have a similar set of jobs planned for Easter! How noticeable is the difference with Meyle links?
I have to do the suspension overhaul so I decided to start with ARB and links

Had to stop and pack up to walk the dogs, will let you know once I've had a test drive. When I was underneath I also found one of the vacuum pipe had split and come off the turbo. Not sure what difference that will make now it's back on !!

When I removed my undertray today (first time) I found it held on by a mixture of screws and cable ties. The cable ties where at the rear because all the captive nuts were missing from the cross member so there was nothing for the screws to go into. Previous owner had threaded cable ties through.

Found this place in the UK that was by far the cheapest for a pack of 10 of the captive nuts (N10327102). Worked out under £4 with free delivery. Other places were around £10 for 5 as they were coming from Germany. They seem to have most other fixings too :)

Took it for a spin last night, certainly seems a bit tighter with the new drops and dog mount. Brakes feel much better as although the disks/pads looked almost new (previous owner did say they'd been changed) one was warped and felt horrible when braking

Arranged some pepperpots for 100€ with two bolt covers missing, only to find out that covers cost 25€/each on average, the same as the rim lol.
