I’ll give it a go in the next few days. Just to be sure, an incompetent user can’t do any harm with VCDS lite can they??Free is even better !! Worth downloading VCDS lite and trying the cable so you know its still working properly

No I don't believe so. I think the lite version is limited you can only read/reset errors but cannot do adaptions or coding changes. You need the full version for that. To be honest though I've not used the lite version, I bought full version as we have a number of VAG cars in the household.I’ll give it a go in the next few days. I don’t want generic, I want niceYou can get generic bolt covers that will fit fine.
@Malcyb The free version will show you the DTC associated with the EML. You can then decide whether it's safe to drive, and if you need to investigate further. No I don't believe so. Thanks. I’ve read through a few of the threads here about the issues associated with getting it to connect so hopefully I can get that far…The free version will show you the DTC associated with the EML. You can then decide whether it's safe to drive, and if you need to investigate further.

Depends, I have the same cable as your freebie and VCDS-lite and it has always been a smooth experienceThanks. I’ve read through a few of the threads here about the issues associated with getting it to connect so hopefully I can get that far…
Yes, I’d never do one side. The shocks are due to be replaced with Bilstein B6, it’s been on the whiteboard for a while.

My starter braided lead was fracturedI’d still go for cleaning the earth, even a little bit of grot can lose a lot of power to the starter
It’s easy and it’ll do no harm.

I have a newish Audi cable, just a couple of years old. Shouldn’t have fatigued so quickly. Could be a crud problem as I wasn’t familiar with aluminium oxide then.My starter braided lead was fractured
