Get an MYP instead, it’s a lovely gearbox, 1-5 same as standard, 6 th nicely spaced. JDD feels like a six speed but missing 5th

Get a 1.9 and six speed in my latest acquisition which I bought with a shredded cam belt. Get my wife’s brilliant red 75Tdi to the Paintshop, look at a slightly more powerful remap on the 90 and get it to the Paintshop and get the orange wheels on PJ.
and organise the Scottish meeting 25/26th June in Aberdeen!

Did you not see in my profile i am from Yorkshire? How much!! Lol!

Read a thread a few years ago and the 1.9 sounds like a proper headache but if i had the time and space would seriously consider it however my remapped 75 is enough power for me, ultimate economy whilst keeping it cost effective always wins the day for me!

About £350 for aMYP from eBay. If you don’t do a 1.9 now then when is a better time!

Other than
Other than the benefit of no longer having the worry about the oil pump chain i dont see the reason for fitting a 1.9
More torque and power options, smoother engine and the ability to frighten normal cars……. But not for everyone., I get that. Just for us mad guys.!

Keep it clean. keep it serviced and keep using it, in 2022 my A2 will have been my daily driver for 19 years.

May be tempted to try swap the front seat bases over, drivers side cover beginning to wear and the passenger side is much more comfy.

Make or break year for me and bluey after 9yrs and 110k.
175k , 70k since last cam belt and Iv had to change my route to work as it won't do long hills at the minute. Invest or scrap at MOT time (Oct). Feels like even getting it to October will be an achievement!
Tempted by a 1.9 conversion but the reason for keeping is as a work hack so economy is paramount. My best bet is to buy one of the many about to be sold as people rationalize their collection's??!;)

What engine is it?

ATL, 90. Just nothing under load(hills) and I'm surrounded by them in Cornwall. Only been like it in last two months but Christmas budget didn't allow for work hence just been plodding along with it (slowly at times) getting used to what it will and won't do and how far to push it without going into limp mode. Tends to be above 2.2k revs under load for more than 15sec's. Will rev well past that under load for short bursts.

Check the hose clip is still attached going into the bottom of the intercooler. If it’s broken then this will be put the intercooler under more strain and may have caused the end caps to start to fail. @dj_efk has pictures and can likely give you a link to a thread on it.

Conventional wisdom would be to get it scanned, good luck I hope it’s an easy fix!

Merry Xmas and Happy NY when it comes!

So for ‘22 I will be getting the rear parking sensors wired, now that the bumper is painted and fitted. Will get some small jobs done to bring the interior up to par. Maybe Bose, availability dependent. Get the roof looked at (sticking due to the seals) and get it along to some meets.

I am going to try and reupholster the saggy headliner...

And if I am a good boy, maybe I will treat myself to an MYP gearbox, as the original one in my TDI90 is starting to show its age :)

Since in the last 18 months I’ve bought 2 A2’s and referbed them both with all new cam belts suspension, etc both fully serviced inc 1 clutch/ flywheel, all faults sorted and all missing/worn bits replaced inc a few mods like auto lights, glove box fixes and dual fog/boot lights, I’m starting to wind down a bit but of course it never stops ?

I need to finish the cruise on the wife’s 90Tdi and I’ve got nearly all the bits for a rear disc brake conversion on my ‘75. Then I really need to look at getting both the EGR’s milled out as they’re both mapped. TT style pedals might appear to compliment the superb A2 footrests I still need to fit. Then I’m on to other superb mods mentioned on this forum…..
