Hi Providence ... maybe not relevant as the OP is discussing his FSI but my 1.4 BBY still gets at least 450 miles on a 37 litre fill up ... I have been gauging mpg this way for as long as I've owned the car ... hopefully my O level maths is still good and that would work out at 55 miles per imperial gallon or 5.2l/100km.In the old days (when the A2 was being sold) they used to quote 3 figures, urban/56mph/75mph. If the urban 6.86/100Km is the correct Audi claim then it would be very optimistic! In those days everyone used to think the quoted urban figure was a joke (not just for the A2). I didn't use Google but I thought 34 MPG looked optimistic, so I didn't check which gallon they were using. 41 MPG is an even more outlandish claim.
On the Parkers Guide site it just says 47 MPG. I seem to remember reading somewhere that this was the 56 mph figure for the 1.4, so are they claiming this as an average? If so, I doubt that is achievable by the majority.
For information my 1.4 Sport with lighter 15" wheels and low rolling resistance tyres, running always on VPower 99 shows on my Timmus DIS:
37 MPG at an average of 24 mph over 4829 miles.
The figure increases to 470 on a motorway drive but usual for me is A and B country roads. What I have discovered recently though is that the speedo reads higher than the sat nav and this would have a negative effect on the true figures, assuming the sat nav is more accurate.
