A2 1.6 FSI headache

I might try new fuel pump to solve similar fault. Anyone had this done by a garage and at what cost? Thanks

I would recommend to do it yourself, because it easy and because I'm not sure the garage would spend time cleaning the dust and dirt under the cover. Mine was so dusty, both the top of the pump and the hoses, I used a brush and a vacuum cleaner to reach everything, before I unscrewed the top holder.

After a long periog with no big headaches, the engine lamp started flashing this morning, first a few flashes than it turned itself off, than again and stayed on. Happened at a low speed, second gear, after a 10 minutes drive, still cold engine.
I guess it's time to delete some fault codes :)
The car goes like a lightning!

I used a non-original, about the same price as that one.

Here are the results of yesterday's scan. Everything deleted later. Drove about 120 km today with no engine light flashing or any trouble whatsoever. Good :)

60 km only today, in heavy rain, the engine light again started flashing in second gear, this time the engine was at 90 degrees. Couple more flashings on and off, before it stayed on.
I wonder if I should put a piece of black tape over it?

If its flashing it indicates emissions are out so i hate to bring it up again but "injectors". If you have the engine running and you clear the codes do you notice the engine change note? mike

I have had not all but most of these symptoms.
Since changing injectors it has been running like a dream, about a month now.

The question is: What made the same Misfiring codes disapear, after the fuel pump and the fuel pressure regulator was replaced?

Cheers,
Darko

Slight increase in fuel pressure improved the fuel spray pattern. Now it's gone back to globs of fuel its not burning correctly.

Maybe I should replace the fuel pump again and see what happens, before deciding if I should pay for the injector service as much as I paid for the car.

Do you have a good rolling road with diagnostic testing equipment in your area? I know that's how an Fsi on here was diagnosed before it had new injectors fitted. It may be possible to see the duty cycle of the injectors via vcds with the engine running.

I went through all of that and my personal opinion is to bite the bullet and do the injectors I'm afraid.
I was the same as you, I didn't want to but it is truly a different car now.

Have you tried a tank full of super unleaded and a bottle of Wynns 3 professional injector cleaner?

Worth a try before going down the new injector route?

You mean driving with the vcds plugged in? I can't do that myself, I installed vagcom on my old laptop with dead battery, I have to power it with the cable :)

I had a local service guy do that in May last year and they did it at Audi in Germany in June, there was no problems with the injection.

If there were, they would replace them in Germany, I'm sure, when they pulled the whole engine out.

I did it twice before a trip to Germany in June and once in August, but with BG 44K. Still have one can, maybe I can do that.
