Lupo 3l -need help

Here's the pic. This part is having a play and causes noticable though moderate clunking over bumps... Any idea about part number? :) Trying to keep my Lup in top shape, so i would like to have this replaced. It' called steerung U joint, just googled out. Can i buy only the bottom part, or the whole thing?

Hey guys, i'm sorry for being a pest lol but very few people have some knowledge about these Lupos. I bought front struts and rear shocks for my 3L. It turned out that the front struts will not fit. 3L has aluminium struts like these...

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/VW-Lupo-3-L-...044275?hash=item2a84b470b3:g:Mh0AAOSwARZXljdr

Is there any replacement for the OEM part, or is the OEM the only option? .... Any idea about the prices of the new front struts from VW if it is the only option?
Ty again!

I will wait for confirmation from RAB re suitability but what I will say is that you are not a pest and its always good to help if we can !. :)

:) I googled this out for Audi A2 3L from an older thread on this forum..... Will this work for Lupo as well? I think i read somewhere that I will need new springs as well?
Dämpfer vorn: Bilstein B4 VNE-4476Dämpfer hinten: Bilstein B4 BNE-A957
I also found this video. The guy seems to be using these shocks, but not the springs? Is it necessary to change the springs as well (provided that all that i have found is aplicable to Lupo 3l in the first place)

Springs can be re-used unless they are rusty. As for the shocks, like the A2 1.2Tdi, there are very few alternatives for the shock absorbers, maybe none. The OEMs are not particularly expensive, so why choose an alternative? The 3L also doesn't have the suspension problems of the A2 - for me, another reason not to change!

Also don't trust Ebay items as being suitable for a 3L or A2 1.2Tdi - there are many examples that are not!

Ty Rab. I called my VW dealer and they ask 250e for one oem front strut alone, and themselves recommended Bilstein replacements at 40e a piece, so I told them the second option appeals to me more.....

If you check on Bilstein's website here:

https://www2.bilstein.com/en/products-and-services/

you'll see that Bilstein don't make a front damper for the 3L, only springs. Your dealer doesn't realise that 3L's are somewhat different compared to most other Lupo models; apart from the GTI, a 3L only shares 20% of parts.

Probably, but i have no choice but to go for it. I think it'd ridiculous to blow 1000 euros for 4 shock absorbers.... It is the worth of half a car. 4 shocks for Audi Q7 with air suspension are probably cheaper..... If it fits and will make my car a kilo havier and save me 800 euros, im totally fine :) I mean guys, these cars are horribly expensive.... Talk about fuel saving and things is a definition of sarcasm and irony..... Appologies for the rant hehe...

They don't have aluminium cases anymore. I had both my rear shocks replaced last year by my local VW agent for about £340, including labour. The Bilstein shocks won't fit.

What about the video I posted and the guys doing it on A2? I ordered the springs as well, mounts, protective plastic and alk complete.... The mounting looks the same. Are you sure it wont fit? They look like this.....

These are oem

This guy reused even the old springs.....

The A2 1.2Tdi suspension is different from the 3L. I don't think that there is anything that is interchangeable. The shocks have different part nos. Bilstein do supply shocks for the A2 but not the 3L. Even the drive shafts are a different length (only by about 10mm!), although otherwise identical.

Oh, didnt know about that. Ty. I will return the parts I ordered
... I am still puzzled about that video. How come the guy made it work?!

No Rab, it was a blue Lupo 3L. It says so in the video as well... Look again... The guy made several videos using it....

Oki, but the ones they suggested for A2 1.2tdi, namely Bilstein b4 4476 are not listed for it, but some Lupo models...

No mention of a Lupo 1.2Tdi. These are probably for the 'standard' Lupo.

If you are considering the Delphi ones, make sure they are correct. The likelihood is that they are not! Upate: the website also states that it is suitable for a Polo which pretty well proves that it is not.

Ive already ordered today Bilstein 4476 complete with springs bearings, mounts, protection.... I thought they are the way to go. Look at the video. The guy says its Lupo 3L and it clearly is a blue 3L....
