Occasionally I read a post and think this is good and useful and really should be in the 'How To' section. As time passes these posts quickly drift into obscurity never to be found again even by Search, (at least by me, but not Spike!). The posts have clearly taken some effort to produce and their "loss" is a great pity.
I propose there should be a sticky thread 'Nominations For How To' in 'How To'. The mechanics of how it would work needs thinking about but I envisage something like .....
Any member can post in the nomination thread advocating inclusion of a piece by simply quoting a link and possibly a title, maybe with supporting text.
A 'Scrutineer' is appointed to manage the nomination thread and would indeed scrutinise a nomination, involving other 'experts' if needed.
The Scrutineer contacts the author if possible to give them opportunity to review their piece and discuss edits.
At the same time the Scrutineer posts a general "Notice Of Inclusion To 'How To'" to give anybody the chance to comment. [On a general level I think this important as the occasional appearance of these notices will continually remind members of the availability of the inclusion mechanism]
Edit: The piece is added to 'How To'
Sorry if what started off as a bright idea ended up being a little too formal and cumbersome, but I think there is some merit.
As I said just an idea. - Andy
