A2 Cars Feedback

Could you let us know what caused the problem and what the fix was, to help others?

Cheers

Steve, I popped the link to the other thread in my post - and in that thread was the answer. It was a simple hose (don't ask me which one!) which was relatively inaccessible and had escaped several other visual inspections. I think Tony doing the service and therefore spending time in the engine bay led to him hearing some additional whooshing and he did some additional hunting as a result.

The only hardware required was a piece of hose! A great result.

Big thanks again

Just wanted to give some more praise to A2Cars.

My A2 now sports all new suspension and feels so much better, and a nice shiny new mot to go with it.

Although I have come away with a list of more upgrades I want now after having a chat to Tony and Petra :D

A2 Cars

Finally got the chance to visit Tony at A2`s..

Great friendly welcome, everything fully explained, plenty of coffee and chat, and even took on the IKEA trek,

The car was serviced and the temperature sender replaced, at last.

I highly recommend the service, thank you Tony, it was a pleasure.

hope to see you soon, but not too soon.
John.

Thanks

Cheers Tony for arranging the tyres for me, running like a dream.

Also hope you get no more tea leaves through the place :(

Thanks to Tony at A2 cars for once again working his magic on my A2. Although a mere break pad change ultimately turned into a complete overhaul, Tony can be trusted to tell you as it is and only recommends what is required. A godsend for those ,like me, who are not a talented mechanic in their spare time. Always a pleasure to make the trip from Bristol to put my treasured A2 in safe hands. Thanks again Tony.

A2 Cars Ltd.

I've been an avid reader since buying my 2005 Special Edition TDi in 2011 but this is my first post.

Coming up to 100K I decided that it would be worth booking in to A2 Cars to have mine refurbished mechanically in readiness for its next 100K. Good decision, even though I live in the North East and its a 245 mile journey down south. Left it down on Monday and picked it up on Friday. Tony has transformed the car and even though it has been serviced annually up here at an independent garage there was a lot to be done to it. The rear drum brakes were a mess and needed complete refurbishment and at the front the anti-roll bar and associated drop links and top dampers needed to be replaced. The headlamps were out of adjustment and new high intensity bulbs have solved the very poor dipped lighting. The timing belt and water pump were replaced along with the corroded brake lines and hoses. Driving back up north it felt like a new car (or what I imagine a new car feels like)!

So I would recommend any A2 owner who wants to keep their car for ever to let A2 Cars work their magic from time to time. It is so reassuring for me to know that its now been in the hands of interested and trustworthy experts who absolutely know the A2 inside out!

Nice first post and good to hear that you are a happy owner and also clearly plan on keeping your A2 long term.

Hope to see more posts from you; not to say that there is anything wrong in solely digesting the content either.

I can only echo the endorsement for A2carsltd. I make a 400 mile round trip for the excellent service and attention to detail. I've never felt better about my 165k car covering our yearly continental tours to switzerland of some 2000miles over two weeks.

I do a 220mile round trip to go there, and recommend A2Cars too. It's good that there are people and businesses that know how to take care of these little cars, the owners on here seem really dedicated to maintaining their A2s to a high standard, and there are some really knowledgeable people who can help spec up your car to something really special. A2's will live on forever!

What sort of money do they Charge for a full
Service on a TDI?

I have no idea, I drive a FSI. Drop Tony a call and ask. Mine's due back there in a month or two for a minor service, and possibly it's clutch too if I'm feeling flash.

Tony at A2cars

I just want to say how delighted I am with sheer dedication & enthusiam shown by Tony at A2cars .. Not forgetting Jack a very capable young man .. I have now visited A2cars with my Fsi for a service & more importantly a cambelt & water pump renewal... also my tdi90 was recently in for a service & it was noted the drivers side wheel bearing & inner & outer boot need replacing .. This was carried out on Tuesday this week .. To say Tony did the job perfectly is a massive understatement he went beyond the call of duty .. He took the drive shaft out & thoroughly cleaned the cv joint ( ably assisted by Jack) dismantling it, regreasing, replacing the the new bearing into a new hub carrier ... spending many hours beyond what he charged me just to get it spot on right .. While it was dismantled I just had to have the Ate power discs & pads fitted ... No point in putting the old rusty discs back on.. The guys knowledge of A2s is unsurpassable .. He is a font of knowledge .. I am capable of a lot myself and enjoy doing it but I love spending time up there and bowing to Tony's superior knowledge .. I learn a lot from him .. His diagnostic & overall assessment of the car can help you plan either the upgrades or absolute essentials that need to done, to keep the cars in tip top shape & reliability .. I'm back there in a weeks time with my 1.4 SE for a service ... More news to follow ...

Sounds like you got the A2 bug Barry!
I'm sure your trio of A2s are receiving the best possible TLC at A2cars and from yourself with all that detailing you do.

 Enjoy!
