Air con not working - conflicting advice from Awesome / Stealth / Skipton Autos...

Well, no .... The "old" fault codes, as supplied by "Vince" at "Stealth Racing" showed 3 faults :- 01272, 00600 and 00818. The latest scan, just this morning, at "Cheshire Oaks Audi", and taken AFTER all this work, is now showing just one, Air-conditioning related fault, (positioning motor) This would appear to indicate that they HAVE cleared all the error codes ..... or the other two would be appearing? So I think that this particular code must be indicating that something is still wrong? Heaven forbid! Oh, another fault notification (amongst others!) from this morning was 1330 Central control module for convenience system - J393 37- faulty
Do you know? If i've got that VCDS, I reckon that I'll end up a nervous wreck!

So, do you think that that will do it? No dash-removal? I ask the Service Manager about those flaps .... Do you know what he said? "I waddled them with my fingers and they worked well"! Very professional, eh! What do you mean, "different vent settings"? On the air-con control panel? Will it clear the error code?

David

If you habitually run the air-con on "Auto", it can mean that the flaps don't get moved enough and they can get a bit stuck and throw an error code. It's recommended to cycle through all the positions on the air-con panel regularly to get it to move around. It's worth a go anyway.

The airbag codes, lights and the steering sensor error all came up after my dash had been out - they had to be reset in VCDS. (the steering wheel airbag, passenger airbag, and likely the front seat airbags will all have been disconnected, and the steering angle sensor is removed following the steering wheel). Those are definitely their issues to fix as a result of the dash removal.
G92 fault a bit more worrying and beyond my knowledge...

Thank you, Russ .... It's an Audi Dealership .... I would have thought that they know these things? Hey, thanks anyway ... the more information I get, the better! It is hard to imagine that they didn't reset everything and clear all error codes when they had completed the work? Also, "Stealth" had cleared the error codes relating to the angle-sensor, so those showing on this morning's scan must be new? There has got to be a new fault there?

David

All I can say, is I hope there is a hot long summer, so you get plenty of use from your Climate!

Hope you get this sorted, you deserve it for all this hassle.

Thanks for the updates!

I have thought a bit more about what you have said .... They, (Cheshire Oaks Audi) were still finishing-off at about 5 P.M. on Friday! It is quite conceivable that they didn't get round to clearing any error codes resulting from the dash removal .... they had only just fitted the dash back! Do you know, Russ? I think that you are right in what you are saying! That air-bag warning light is certainly new to me!
Let's see what Monday morning brings .... at least you've armed me with all the knowledge that I'll need! .... Thanks!

David

If I was doing the job, it would be dash out, G263. Plug the Climate control panel in and test the climate stuff without the dash. This means both air bags out, steering angle sensor out, sunlight sensor out, indicator relay out ... all going to be faults while testing. I cannot imagine a job being completed without doing a scan-clear-rescan after everything has been put back together but it sounds like that.

I went out of the house, Mid-day, for an hour or so .... when I returned, there was my A2! The service Manager himself had returned the car! (25 miles away!) There were no warning lights showing and the air-con was working well! It appears that the problem was with the re-fitting of the angle sensor .... their fault, apparently ..... They say that no air-con related faults were seen .... he is going to send me the diagnostic scans of before and after .... Also, he has agreed to give the car a further scan in a week or two, to make sure that all is well!
So that's it .... you will know where to go for an excellent level of care and service! Thank you, "Cheshire Oaks Audi"!

well done Cheshire Oaks Audi and the service manager!

I bet it won't be £127 the next person calling them to do the G263 ;)

Assuming all the HVAC faults are clear, and nothing new has been detected, I'd say Cheshire Oaks Audi have proven themselves to be most honourable in performing this repair at the original quote.

I’m assuming you’ll have a fully 2 years warranty on the work too?

I would still suggest a full VCDS scan to verify all is OK, but it seems you’ve done very well.

Cheers

Jeff

Yes, I do, of course, have a receipt for this work. It is clear what the work was, too. I would think the it is "unconditional" and is covered by their standard warranty.I am not sure about the 2-years, though? I will ask about that .... They promptly mailed me 2 scans .... before and after Monday's latest corrective work. Strange thing was there were no faults at all on both scans for "air conditioning"? So where did that fault go for the flaps (600)? My A2 had not been touched between the scan that I'd been given on Saturday and the next one on Monday morning? Oh well, it's working ... that's all that matters! They damaged a "Scangauge" and left the car with quite a few oily marks ... no problem! I've been told to get another "scangauge" and let them have the receipt for reimbursement! On Monday, the Manager will collect my A2 from my property and return it fully cleaned and with anything else attended too! I kid you not! Now that's Service for you! Oh, I'll get that VCDS package from the Guy on the Audi-sport Forum ... £257! That is the best price! (I won't know how to use it, though!) LOL!
