HI All.
Three door 1990 spec mk2 Golf GTI 1800 8 Valve with a TSR head (unsure of what work done to it). Finished in brilliant black metallic (most of it) wings and front bumper are new need painting.
Update on golf.
Finished all floor repairs, Refitted mk3 golf fuel tank with new stainless straps, Rear beam powdercoated new bushes refitted back on car.
New drive shafts with inner and outer cv joints, new suspension eibach springs bilstein b4 dampers with new meyle top mounts dust covers etc. New FAI front control arms with ball joints.
Upgraded front brakes to refurbished 16v hubs and 256mm calipers, rear calipers audi tt, upgraded master cylinder to meyle 22.5mm, removed rear side windows addressed rust caused by side panel clips rotting out, unable to get mk2 ones so trying mk3 panel clips(slightly bigger but should do job) and refitted. The car is now back on the floor with freshly powder coated 15" Estoril alloys.
Removed old oil, removed sump(had been patched welded) and all water hoses and metal water pipe, water/oil cooler.
Hoses cleaned and flushed refitted, new metal water pipe fitted.
Once sump removed and binned, cleaned bottom end and inspected for wear no metal flakes in old oil and no water ingress.
New sump and gasket refitted, fresh cheap tesco oil put in(as flushing oil) new oil filter(bosch) turned engine over by hand and checked all marks.
Still have a mountain of Jobs to do.
Fit sound deadening to bulkhead and floor, refit dash after tweeters fitted, plumb in brake lines, fit new hoses, bleed and pressure test.
Repair drivers door (rusted out bottom rear corner) repair hole in roof, repair and refit headlining, plumb in fuel system and test start, flush out coolant ways with cabin heater bypassed(new heater matrix), refit all interior, Take bumper and wings for paint, try to remove storage dents all over car (mainly roof and bonnet). Check over, power steering system(possible leak).
Repair front big bumper arches and side body kit and refit after wings painted and fitted, refit front fogs into bumper after clear protective film applied to glass then fit to car, test all electrics and go around every suspension nut and bolt torqueing to correct setting. Leave the car ticking over to check if its holding temperature/ and stable idle. Drain off all fluids including gearbox oil(when warm), reconnect all coolant systems and leak test all sytems.
Then after all that work It might be ready for it's first mot since 2008!
