car mods

Hi .. as always yes Mr B you are correct .. mine has had some extensive arch work done .. removing the lip to all arches ... also some inner arch work ... these alloys are quite heavy so be prepared for a lumpy ride .. on air its not too bad but wouldnt like to say on springs .. nitrogen in the tyres is an option but one i wouldnt say made a difference .. turning circle is reduced ... im using adapters combined with spacers too which you will need .. 20150215_105554.jpg20150215_105550.jpg20150215_105540.jpg20150215_105536.jpg
First two are the rear arch showing no lip and how far alloy sticks out .. last two are front.. nice if you want the euro look ..

I'm in the both camp, if fully modified or standard oem at the end of the day deep down it's an Audi A2. I love the Air2 and Steves A2 but also I love an A2 even if totally standard. That's the reason this forum is great, because of variety of A2s we have here. And long may it continue.

You must have a big fear of kerbs with those rims :)

Hi Redbull .. couldnt have said it better .. we have the 2 a2s ... sarahs is oem .. n then mine so have the best of both worlds lol .. sarahs is a 90 bhp .. pocket rocket and mine is 75 .. both stealthed .. so got the variety too lol

Hi,

Yes but you would then need the same adapters as ZipnJeff (because of the different PCD) which will push the wheels further out in the arches and so you would also have to trim the arches back quite a lot as well. The inner wheel protectors would also have to be trimmed I think (ZipnJeff?) That is even if you are not fitting an air ride set up.
The 8" wide wheels only JUST about fit in the A2 and that is if the offset is correct and with the width of the adapters it is just too much offset (or too little, whichever it is)

That great look doesn't come easy.

Yes. I know. I am well aware of the pitfalls of non standard spec wheels.

Yes, but some of the other viewers browsing this might not be, so I thought it best to just point that out in case someone bought the same wheels thinking it was a bolt on. Nearly every member on here would know that as you say, but not everyone on here is aware of PCDs and Offsets etc.

;D

Understood. I get a bit sensitive sometimes. :) Although I don't do much in the way of modifications I do like a custom, OEM looking vehicle. And I read up about such A lot. I currently have a hankering after some Porsche 928 slots but won't do anything about it because of the cost and the fact that our A2 is purely for economy. It'd look great though.

Seeing as we have covered the outside of the car ... any thoughts with the inside ... i was debating on whether to change the seats for a set of race seats or something similar but am really struggling with the decision to part with my half leather alcantara .. . Im still considering the speaker upgrade ... but do i go full on doir builds and boot install or keep the discreet oem look with upgrades .. my reason for starting this thread was in order to get the jist of what folks would do if they were going the mod route and get ideas for my 'project' it was mentioned in a post some time back as being heavily modded when a few members saw it for sale .. i want to be different with it and create a show car but am struggling with it as part of me is really loathe to change it too much.. hope makes sense

I went for Golf Recarro front seats, BIG bolsters that hug you and the air bags and heated seat elements are compatible with the A2 as well.
My trimmer even managed to swap the lumbar parts from the A2 into them.

They could be covered in the same material as your rear seats, to match!!!

But some super skinny competition seats might suit if you are leaving OEM totally aside!!

I like the idea of bigger bolsters ..have seen some Tt seats the same material as mine but seem a sportier seat if you know what i mean ... have have corbeau and cobra sidewinders before in other cars but dont think that would suit the a2 as i think they would be lost inside the vast interior ..
Unfortunately i dont have Bose .. have seen a few set ups on the bay but trying to work within a budget as i have spent so much already on the car putting right the previous owners mods .. mainly for safety .. the only thing salvageable on the airride set up put in was pretty much the bags themselves .. everything else .. tank .. compressor all wiring all pipes has been replaced .major expense but needed doing and is so much better .. restored my confidence in the car. . this has also meant i have had to replace the boot false floor and carpets .. storage box under ac unit and passenger footwell plate as these items were all beyond repair due to some previous butchering .. not mine .. luckily managed to bag a bargain on those items .. always on the bay seeking a bargain .. lol

Heated black leather and Alcantara front seats from a TT may be an idea.

Someone mentioned on another thread about a low profile JL Sub, that would fit under the boot false floor or under the front floor panels.

your leather and alcantara is a really nice bit of kit. tbh the spec is pretty much spot on.and maybe the reason you bought the car? i would be tempted to go carbon and flocked interior, and 2 crazy bucket seats bit like my track car lol....

id make mine like a proper toy car, but you all will have to wait untill i buy an se........maybe then i will get a roasting from the purists lol

If you are keeping the car silver I'd be tempted to sell the half leather on here on an exchange basis (£500-700) and use the money to pay a fair bit of the price of having the new seats re-trimmed. I think you should take it upmarket. A nice red leather diamond stitched (not sure what the correct name is) with matching door cards.

I'd also consider updating the air vents by integrating the silver/chrome vents from the MK1 TT.

Do like the look of the red leather .. think it compliments the silver really well .. seen pics of redbulls and it got me thinking ...

Well the easiest option would be to just swap them for someone who has a set of red leathers but then seeing as you drive an A2 on air ride and 8 inch wide wheels I doubt easy appeals to you.
