certainly happy to provide some notes and pictures of what I believe to be the UK highest mileage A2.
I have a basic history of the A2, but will contact the previous owner and ask if he will provide anything else that he can remember, always nice to have somw material to pick out the interesting snippets from.
It as just clocked 280200 on my way back from picking up some blue replacement seat for the old girl
Quite remarkably it is still returning 63mpg and after its remap now feels owe so much better to drive.
I followed an Audi S3 up a piece of dual carriage way on Saturday, joining the dual carriage immediately after a roundabout and climbing up a fairly steep incline for about a mile, we joined the dual carriageway doing about 30mph in the outside lane, I just followed the S3 who was accelerating past the first lane traffic at a fair rate, I sat at a safe distance from the S3 and just matched it mph for mph, we got to the top of the hill doing just shy of 80mph. A mile or so after the S3 was turning left and I passed it, the driver gave me a rather puzzled look, as if to say he was not expecting an A2 to be sat on his tail - made me smile to myself
I did work out that it have used in the region of 4,670 gallons or 21,000 litres of diesel and at an average price of £1.10 per litre had cost rather more in fuel (£23,000) that what the A2 cost new.
If you assume that each fill up was from the fuel light coming on (28 litres) that is 755 trips to the filling station
Owe and the first 278,224 miles was on the original LUK Clutch
Cheers,
