My 'not meant to be a project', project

While they do look good Steve, have you had any issues with light scatter or other road users thinking your lights are on full beam? Some perform better than others.

Thanks for the link too.

Yes, ours are reflector so need H7R. No issues with blinding people. They are not THAT bright. They look good and light the road up as much as other cars so I'm happy.

Well 2017 is on its way and so I think it's time to start planning next year's mods. I say planning only because Christmas has wiped me out so it will have to be later in the year. The biggest change is that the A2 will now officially be my car. Its always been my wife's car that I've fettled with but we are getting her a Ford B-max and the A2 becomes mine.

It's time for a bit of a face-lift again I think and so my plans so far are:

- Sell the TT V6 18 alloys and change for an aftermarket wheel probably something from the Rota range if I can find a second hand set at the right price.

- Have the top half of the car from the beltline up sprayed gloss black.

- Fit a rear anti-roll bar to stiffen the handling up even more.

- I'd planned to fit a rear disk axle, but needing the car to be in constant use is proving to be a bit of a stumbling block.

Hi Steven. Yes I'm very pleased with them. They are a quality job and were a bargain. I think I'll change the top half of the doorcard to black next year though as there's too much going on with them at the moment.

I actually have everything here to be able to do the rear windows but I'm useless with electrics and never carry any passengers in the car so would seem a waste of money.

It's time for you to start a project thread now, your interior is a work of art.

Maybe some time soon just finish the headlamp wasters, getting wrap next year and hydro dipped wheels. Also looking for a TV system that will work will RNS-E.

Cheers

Steven

Today I finished off the alcantara door pockets I had from Steven Garrity. They are alcantara with Bentley speaker grilles. Really like them. Thank you Steve :)

Well the TT v6 wheels sold a couple of days ago so I'm now running around on my 15 inch winter wheels.

I'm surprised how much lighter the car feels to drive now but I'm already missing having the wheel arches full. I'm determined to find some larger lightweight wheels and I think I've stumbled across some 18 inch OZ superturismo wheels locally.

I'm hoping these will give me the appearance I want combined with better acceleration and handling.

These are very light and durable compared to the stock 16" rims. I have had these on the beetle for 15years. No complaints. Great wheel. ****** to clean.

I think I might have lost the sale of these, fancy selling yours? :)

I have considered selling them many times in order to get some Fuchs replicas, however, they do look damn good.
And they are in serious need of a refurb which I really should get done.

These arrived this week

and they look huge!! 8.5x18

I bought them secondhand and they need a refurb. They are in good condition but the chrome finish has started to peel in places. I'm refurbing them myself and thinking of going for a brushed aluminium finish with silver painted centres matching the body colour of my car, what do you guys think?

Hi,

In my view it is Silver or nothing (I class brushed aluminium as silver too) It is tempting to "do something" with the panels in the "star" legs, but I have seen many attempts at that sort of thing and I have yet toi see one that works.

So bright silver is my opinion.

I've toyed with doing the panels in black to go with my black and silver theme but I think it may look tacky.

I started using a wire cleaner head tonight on a drill just to remove the chrome and had intended to flat that back with wet and dry before painting the whole wheel silver. I do however like the finish that the brush is leaving and wonder whether it would look good of i just do the inserts in silver then laquer the whole wheel including the brushed alloy.

I've never laquered clean alloy before, does anyone know if this is possible?
