Project peperami - (A2Steve)

That colour sings in the sunshine. Reminds me of the old Vauxhall Viva my folks used to have - when coach lines were in vogue in the 70s. Thanks for the cooler info - I'm sure you'll get the pipes fitting better in the fullness of time. Once you'd cut the lugs away, did you end up needing a custom bracket or were you able to secure it to the carrier with the remaining lugs?

Looking great Steve. I wasn't sure about it with the masking all in place but now it really looks great. Love the wheels too. A modern edge on the classic A2. Hopefully see it up close soon enough.

It's held in place with one 8mm bolt and to be honest it doesn't need that even. It's such a tight fit that it now won't move even when hit with a mallet.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I'm really happy with the way the colour changes so much in sunlight. It's a subtle brown when overcast and then comes alive when the sun pops out.

Found this pic on the forum.

Now i'm no boy racer (or at least not for a very very long time) but this little car almost urges me on to surprise a few cars.

My favouritea so far are a new model fiesta zetec s 140bhp. I had to do that one because he had viper stripes :) When he caught up with me a few seconds later his face was a picture when I explained it's a 1.4 diesel.

The other, and this one surprised me was a 2012 BMW 120d m-sport (160bhp). The 2 geezers inside looked quite embarrassed when it was me backing off at 70 being the only time they came close to me.

I love this little car.

Oh! Thanks! At least I now know what I've spent my life's saving on.

Whoops!!

Never spend life savings on a depreciating asset. For the same money, you could have got a recent classic that will be worth loads more in a few years. £10k spare? Something like an Alpha Spider. Or, if you must have a go faster German car, get a Boxter 986 for the same money and cherish it.

It's my 9th BMW, I used to have a Mk1 GTi 1800 and a MK2 Gti 16v big bumper, but I fancied something bigger when kids came along. I've gradually built up to the current 535d bought at a year old for £24k saving, and it rides like a magic carpet. I consider the first owner to have taken the depreciation hit.
