Today I.....

I could not agree more. The MoT is not a particularly tight test to pass and as such a well maintained car should never fail the MoT test
Can't remember that last time I presented a car for an MoT and it failed

cheers,

Today i.............

Bought a clay bar kit from ebay to go over the paintwork.....

Also

Ordered adjustable droplinks to go with the new Prosport coilover kit that is now fitted to my A2 .
It has still to be road tested and ride height set but for now its wound all the way down to -65mm........

More picture to follow

Yup that's fairly extreme :)

For info mine is wound all the way to the top! 30mm all round.

I went for basic shorter drop links. You getting Meyer or something else? What benefit do you get from adjustable drop links is it just about ride quality?

The short ones at 160mm where fouling so need longer length ones ...prosport do a pair that have plenty of scope to do this .
As i say ive still to play with the height settings .. ive not driving it yet , hope to get it back from the garage tomorrow......

Are you running Prosport as well.?

Yup I am but then are you getting fouling due to the lower ride height or is it irrelevant?

My mechanic advised they were too short and would foul the chassis when connected and originals too long .
The pro sport drop links will hopefully sort this out ..

Today I ........

arrived home from a week in Romania (work unfortunately) and had two parcels waiting for me.

One was the soft touch climate panel panel and I wa worried that it might not be as good as it looked in the pictures.
But it was perfect and yes it is soft touch. So that is one of the last few items I need for “Violet”. The only downside is that mine is a double DIN panel with heated seats so I will be removing the soft touch buttons to put in my panel. But it will then be as good as new.

The second parcel was not sonething for “Violet” it was just a bargain so I had to buy it.
There was a splittable headlamp advertised and I just had a look at it on eBay. It was WAY too dear at £100 but then I received a message from Ebay that the price had been reduced, from £100 to £10. I couldn’t say no to that price.
It is not fantastic condition but certainly usable and worth a tenner.

Just picking up on this - I'm sure the mechanic I got to do my pro sport coilovers install never mentioned any issue with the 160mm drop links I bought.

Saying that though i do get a metallic squeaking noise when i corner hard on heavily cambered roads. Could this be linked?

That could be the contact he mentioned to me when the drop link touches the chassis under load ?

He ended up using the middle section of the pro sport drop links to gain the correct fitment for my needs...

Just picked my car up from the garage and very pleased with the work he has done on the A2

Now lowered 65mm ..........

Looking great.

The ine one thing I was unhappy with when I experimented on going really low was that the lower you go the further forward the wheel sits in the wheel arch and with larger tyres they can rub as you hit a bump and they get even further forward.

I was seriously thinking of a small modification to the front mounting points to bring then back slightly so that the wheel sits more central at really low tide heights.

It might be an option but I am loving the low-rider stance on your car.

Liking the look. Avoiding speed bumps now but god knows what it will be like with that drop. :D

Looks like I'll need to make the investment in better adjustable drop links then!

I'll add that to my need to fix list :(

I will keep you posted on how the car feels after the snow has gone and get a chance to try it out . Hopefully no knocking from the drop links !!

I've had various lowered VAG cars so know what to expect .........

...Someone snaped off my 4 month old Bosch wiper which costs quite a bit leaving me in the rain with no wiper. Luckily I bought one at a near by screwfix for only 5.99 and it is excellent for the price !

Installed new disks, pads and new front calipers. Hopefully my persistent disk warping will now be resolved.

Are you positive that the disc was warped or was it down to the hub face and the disc not mating properly? It's so easy to get a bit of grit or corrosion between and then your disc will always have run-out on it. I even put brake grease on the face now to prevent corrosion.
