Today I.....

Today I upgraded the lighting switch to a Chinese version with Auto and Fog Light facility. Yet to wire the fog lights. Ground the original trim section out to allow the new switch legends to sit flush. Rather pleased!

Watch out come mot time as you may find the testing station could fail the car due to foglight tell light on the new switch. I failed last year on this and I have heard of others.

I finally gave up, the pot holes have won, I have fitted a set of 15" rims in stead of the 9 spoke 17" and rubber band tyres, the transformation is remarkable, it feels like Lancashire County Council has actually mended the roads (which they appear to have given up doing)
I guess the road holding will suffer a little only time will tell

The weight saving over the 17"sport wheels is massive, I guestimate 5kg lighter, so will monitor fuel consumption
I refurbed the 15" rims in satin gun metal grey and against the Silver A2 they do look the dogs danglies

Pictures or it didn't happen! :p

Will post some pics tonight
My back knows it as happened though soooooo much smoother

I was pleasantly surprised that when I checked this In the MOT rules it only states that the REAR fog lights need a warning light. I checked this against the new rules too. No mention of a front fog light warning. So it should not have been failed (MOT testers get confused just as much as we do, but the rules are clear).

As I have said also, if you just get a set of the standard non fog surrounds, you can pop them on over the fog lights when you take it fir an MOT.

Sorry don't know if there is a post crossover but just to reiterate i meant rears in relation to the auto switch.

The warning light comes on when the rear fogs are used. (assuming that you have either cut out the hole for the new ring or if not, you are using the correct switch surround that has the fog warning icons) It is only the front fogs that don’t have a warning light on the auto headlamp setup.

Hi Steve so on assumption that first pull forward on switch is for front fogs then for sure the tell on my auto switch is front, then no change to back. Hence no tell on rear fog lights.

Just though had a thought...is the auto fog function on these switches something to do with swapping fog lamp tell around ?

I also live in Lancashire and the state of the roads are shocking. I find that the pot holes are circled with some kind of spray paint but never filled in. The Beatles once sang about 4000holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. There is more than that on my road alone. I'm sure you would find better maintained roads in the 3rd world

Replaced this lot on Marjory the minger.. still a few jobs to do new rear shocks next.. ?..

Today I had an ezeebleed go pop and spray brake fluid EVERYWHERE. One of the hoses came out along with about a quarter of the contents.

... serviced the OpenSky mk2 on my car. Cleaned off the roof rubbers and door rubbers using WD40 on a cloth, then dressed with G-052-172-A1; cleaned the old grease from the roof runners and hingey bits, then applied G-000-450-02. Cleared out the four roof drains using pipe cleaners, and an old credit card down the sides of the windscreen rubbers: what a load of muck came out of that.
Also drilled drain holes in the rear spoiler. Finally gave it a good vacuum clean, including the tailgate hinge area which attracts leaves, the scuttle and the vents in the bonnet.
Car drives much better now ;)
