Today I....
Finished making a huge number of wiring looms for various upcoming retrofits for A2OC members. I've made 12x cruise control looms, 6x DIS looms, 2x Bose looms, 2x rear electric window looms, 3x front fog light looms, 1x A1 multifunction steering wheel loom and 1x SideGuard airbag looms.
As promised for
@Special edition,
@Ukie,
@Away with the fairys,
@Darren C,
@BoxyA2,
@Proghound and many others!
Admittedly not today, but very recently, I did 3x cruise control installations at once ...simultaneously. I don't know how many A2 cruise control retrofits I've done in my life, but the number of parts I've ordered over the years suggests the figure must be at about 250. Needless to say, I'm well practiced and have the process down to a fine art. However, I'd never been asked to do more than one cruise control retrofit at once, so this recent cruise control marathon answered a question; is it quicker to do the retrofits simultaneously rather than sequentially?
So, I picked up the tools needed to remove the steering wheel, and then proceeded to remove the steering wheel from every car. I then picked up the tools to remove the stereo, and then proceeded to remove the stereo from every car. Every necessary stage was repeated in this manner until all cars had cruise control.
The result... it takes almost exactly the same amount of time had I done the retrofits sequentially (completing one retrofit before starting the next). The time I save by 'batch processing' is wasted by the extra time used to walk between the cars over and over again!
I hope you've all had good, productive days!
