Today I.....

That’s some real steady handy work there

What a professional job you have done there tom .?

Thank you Edward and Paul,

It’s looks just as good fitted. Just nipping out this lunch time to get it all washed before I attack it with some interior detailing products. Hopefully have some pictures later on.

Kind regards,

Tom

Not Jel!?
Afternoon,

The following pictures possibly won’t help too much either.

Not bad for an afternoons work yesterday and a spot of Autoglym during the lunch break today.

Kind regards,

Tom

Another one from these guys. Attention to detail being pointed out this way shows how much love there is for A2:

All of the Audi range, from A8, A6, A4, A3, A2, and Mk1 TT of that era (late 90s to mid noughties) have a consistent design style. It looks deceptively simple, but is the result of attention to detail, and a design philosophy that is carefully followed. For me, the "face" of the car reflects the overall form.
The huge shift in that philosophy that came with the next generation has never grown on me, and, in my option shifted Audi from an independent, and innovative part of the VAG family, into a less confident one.
The success of Kia owes a lot to Peter Schreyer, who joined them, from Audi, in 2006!

Evening all,

Today I... Updated the RNS-E PU in both OEM and 250 to the latest (and freshly) available beta custom firmware.

The former beta firmware (FW290 193 / FW720 192) has now made it passed beta and into full release. Here's an idea of what it has to offer:

In addition to all the glorious features opened up to us already, this new beta firmware (FW300 193 / FW730 192) offers the following:

Having since installed it; I can confirm the RNS-E PU does indeed boot up quicker, awesome!

Stuart really has done some magic here in bringing SD Card navigation to the RNS-E Mk1. Its just amazing what can be achieved.

I'm also quite excited about the recently added support for the A3 (8P0) OPS Module as this should allow me to enable the OPS display (that you've seen on my RNS-E PU) on the ColorMFA (Colour DIS). It’s the factory A2 PDC Module (8Z0) (by the way it communicates) that is the limiting factor to achieve this right now.

I'll get to testing in the OEM+ A2 when time permits.

Kind regards,

Tom

Had a first run in my ‘new’ 1.2tdi. Now it’s functioning I can confirm it drives really nicely and over the 140 miles covered it achieved a respectable indicated 89.6mpg.

I’ve no doubt this will climb when I’m not travelling at motorway speeds and overall I’m really pleased. Just one or two little cosmetic jobs to do though! ?

Glad you’ve finally got it on the road Erling. Look forward to seeing it at some point.

I think I can spot some footprints leaving the driver door?
You're right! There was nothing coming either way, so I stopped to take a photo before heading on. It's quite an exposed piece of road that doesn't get gritted, so it tends to look pretty in the snow (worth a photo stop!)

Today I got busy stripping the seats out and giving the inside of my newly running 1.2 a thorough clean as well as fitting the rear Cupholder.

I turned this:

Overall, very happy but lots left to do!

@Erlingtheelder has a lhd single din soul black dash he swapped for a double din one in his car so once I’ve been convinced this car is going to continue to be reliable, swapping that in and getting this fitted is the next big job.

I’d totally forgotten this had flappy paddles. Need to work out how to get these to work my gearbox. I’m certain there must be a way

Congratulations, I can't be the only one a bit jealous with the mpg these 1.2s give. I forgotten the back story; did you import it or was it imported by the previous owner? Looks like it's had a hard life but I'm sure you will restore it to perfection.

This one was purchased from a fellow forum user in uk but he imported it a number of years ago. He maintained it mechanically really well with lots of documented maintenance and was very helpful when issues occurred with the transmission after purchase. He has a deep understanding of the 1.2 having also owned a number of lupo 3l’s. It’s now done 180,000 so about run in!

The aesthetics weren’t of such importance to him which is fair enough but nothing that can’t be sorted. I do pretty high mileage and given my ‘special’ A2 is already now on 210,000 I wanted something that I could pit miles on so a 1.2 made sense and I knew there was lots I’d want to do to it.

My dad has had his 1.2 from new, having imported it from Germany in 2003 or 2004 and that’s just gone over the 260,000 mark. I’m hoping to catch and pass Dad within 4 years on the mileage front all being well ??
