Today I.....

The picture does not give the painting justice, I think it is due to the metallic. Dry paint is thicker, more durable and cheaper. But they look very nice IRL.

today I changed low beam bulbs and got two new license plate light assemblies. Do they come with rust free screws or I need to find replacement for them?

Well it's not necessarily a "today I" but one feature of the a2 that I find odd is that with cruise control there is no icon on the dash to show its active. Mike

Hi Mike

yes it is a bit odd.

But then cruise control as an option on small hatchback cars in 2000 was not common.

Did the other VW cars of that age have a warning light.

Personally I am not sure that it is all that unsafe not to have it.

If there is a hazard or sharp bend ahead surely you would be wanting to slow down anyway and so you would be pressing the brake (and therefore disengaging cruise anyway)?

it is surely not that difficult for them to have built in a warning on the dash but perhaps they only decided to offer cruise after they designed the dashboard layout?

But you are right that it is strange that a company that goes as far as fitting a little strip of Velcro on the edge of the false floor to keep the battery compartment lid open for you, doesn't bother with a cruise control warning.

But then again, one of the things we like about the A2 is that it can be a bit "quirky"

Today i went to the local TPS for my new wiper blade . Inquired if they had gecko's .
Not something they keep.
Called in at Lincoln Audi. Asked for a yellow geko, and was given one of each colour for free ! ! ! Wow
Another result, thats 2 this week.
Only need to win the lottery now. ! SOi can buy the stunning R8 red spyder in the showroom.

My '97 B5 Audi A4 TDiQ Avant had the same system as the A2 and it didn't have a light showing it was on, exact same setup.

Today I. Found a double din dash after selling one which I had in my breaker ( should of kept it lol ) the car was a 1.6 fsi with only 36K on the clock ! The breaker said there's nothing wrong with the car except it didn't come with the key it had everything there full service history from Audi and the lot , managed to get the dash out and lots of goodies too the cubby under the handbrake was sold straight away and I got a undertray as well , there is however a false floor set up in the car if anyone wants it

Where there is a will there is a way and I bet you'll find a way George...

But surely the original spoiler can be cut down to size?

After all it is no longer required and will have been drilled anyway?

And the same problem exists with the genuine votex spoiler of course.

Or swap the glass or complete tailgate for a TDI 0r 1.4 petrol one. (sounds drastic, but it is an option.

Depends if you want to retain the original size so as to benefit from maximum aerodynamics I guess Steve. The way I see it the options are: replace tailgate with 1.4 petrol or TDI, cut down original spoiler to fit Votex or interestingly modify (extend) the Votex spoiler to fit the FSI original. The last option is perhaps the most involved and skilled, but how unique it would be. Individualism extended further again.

Agreed, but the A2 is not a racecar and so I would be amazed if the downforce created by the spoiler does anything much anyway.

It cannot affect the CD (drag) because the FSI and the rest are all exactly the same shape body and so they have the same CD disregarding the spoiler. So if one or the other improved the CD then why have two different shapes?

Perhaps not Steve, but it is larger on the 1.2 TDI and FSI for a reason - the underbody aero extras of the 1.2 TDI probably don't dramatically offer significant benefit either, but many owners have retrofitted these to all variants in search of an extra mpg or two.

As I say Steve, modifying the Votex is an option; anyone taking that route would certainly be taking a uniques step; hats off if someone were to give it a go; we all appreciate that personal touch don't we.
