Today I.....

Has it been burned or something!!?!!

Still looks pretty nice though - nice lines and alloys. Such a shame!

People are awful!

Looks to me as if all the paints flaked off leaving the original epoxy primer they etch new body panels and shells in ,

considering shes been sat in a forest for all these years shes survived well by the looks of things especially how clean those alloys look and imagine someone would love to bring her back to life again as they are getting rare nowadays

The original silver paint is under this awful black "paint", which I assume is Plasti Dip.
The guy that discovered it, want to rescue the car, and he'll try to buy it off from the insurance company.

I counted my lucky stars

Last Friday driving to work heard a fan like banging noise knew something was up stoped it within 5-10 seconds turned off and it dumped all its coolant on the floor.

I felt sure it was water pump, got recovered and recovery guy wanted to drive it on the flat bed, I insisted he didn't and use the winch he wasn't happy but I won that battle.

My mechanic has sorted it and it was bearings gone in water pump and it had loosened the belt and if it had of been restarted would have snapped the cambelt

So glad I didn't let recovery guy restart it and I was driving it as my Mrs wouldn't have stopped and turned it off.

So new cambelt, water pump, oil level sensor, sump gasket and things are all good

Probably common knowledge to you experts :D but I just discovered this parts catalogue which seems straightforward to navigate:

http://www.oemepc.com/audi

Simon.

just a heads up as only found this out the other day when in TPS ordering some parts but seems most of these online parts cataloges are for the lhd A2 so some parts and part numbers are incorrect for our rhd cars

Today i cleaned my engine bay as looking a bit grubby after 15years of road grime ...

For all you OCD cleaners laughing my socks off ;)

Glad you got yours through even if it did need a bit of work.

Nothing was needed on mine. I am taking her back Monday for a the air on to be re-gassed. I also had that mega expenses of £30 tax as well today

Today I ............. Decided to hand the BMW i3 back to the leasing company early.

Not because I don't like the car, I really do (Apart from the stupid design of the rear doors!!!) but for financial reasons.
After my recent health scare (all ok now) I have had to leave my job and so the £300 a month lease fee was a chunk of money that I could do without having to find.

Am I gutted, NO, not really, it means that I now have to find a car for myself!!! I wonder what car to get !!!! LOL.

So I will be back permanently behind the wheel of an A2 again, as soon as I find a suitable replacement. Budget is tight so I will be on the lookout for a well specced TDI, ideally in black. But with a top budget of £1,500 it will not be as special as the one I just handed back to William.

In the meantime I can run around in Mike's (A2Sumo) car until I find my TDI.

I have grown to respect the FSI A2s more in recent times, but I am a "TDI man" through and through and so a TDI it will have to be.

I have been trawling the for sale adverts on Gumtree, eBay, etc. etc. and there are a few bargains around every now and then, so I am hoping to find something that "floats my boat" soon, but it must have a good spec, not bothered in the least about mileage, possibly not bothered by a cat D either (since this is a keeper!)

Looking forward to finding something nice.

the BMW goes back early this coming week so I was looking for something available now. Thanks for thinking of me though.

Viewing a tdi with full Votex tomorrow morning.

Today I .......................

Bought the replacement car for the i3 which I gave back early.

I managed to find what I believe to be a bargain 2003 (53) TDI Sport in Silver with cloth sport seats (Black)

It has a full factory fitted Votex kit
OEM Parking sensors
Space-saver spare wheel kit
Team Dynamics 17" alloys and great tyres
Full service and full cam belt kit done within the last 2,000 miles
Showing 168K on the clock BUT there is a receipt for a new genuine Audi short engine fitted 80,000 miles ago and it is running sweetly.
No rattles or squeaks
Remapped and feels like it too.
Factory tinted windows (I think)
Recent front discs
I also have to check what struts / shocks it is running because it is a lot smoother than standard and a similar ride to Mike's (A2Sumo's) Castle Red FSI.
The seller included the reg number too !!!

Drives really nicely

Managed to get it for £1,700

I am very happy now (and financially better off too! thanks to this)

P.S. I am just going to add a "For sale" thread for the wheels and tyres. (tyres have plenty of tread, two are recently new and the other two are great as well)

Some pictures .

The black stripe on the bonnet is going (as are the black wheels)

There is some kerbing on the wheels but the black paint hides it well!!

Viewed an A2. Well two. When a dealer says "Clean bodywork" expect every panel to be keyed, dented or delaminating...The private one from a club member looked good but just pricing up front discs and pads, rear springs and shocks, and rear tyres. Clutch pedal was fairly high but hoping that £500 bill will be later rather than sooner
