Today I.....

Franki is home and happy to meet some new chums, it drives beautifully and looks even better, managed 74mpg over 104 mile journey home.
This car is a real credit to its creator @A2Steve. Also a credit to @johnyfartbox and @Terryg that were the previous custodians.
All I need to do now is have a trip to @timmus for a lesson on how all the gizmos work?.

Sad day for me but franki could not have gone to 2nicer club members, who I am sure will look after this special car .
well done Steve for the work and money you put into franki an exceptional car .well done John for keeping franki in great condition. I don’t think there is a better owners car forum in Britain well done every one involved.

Anyone we know, just been passed by a dark blue A2 TDI Reg DE51FJF (165K) heading West on the M55 towards Blackpool.
It went up the slip road at the Blackpool / St Anne's junction.

Yesterday actually, looks like I need a V68 motor that moves the temperature flap. Enquired with Crewe Audi, ouch, ouch ouch ouch still shaking in shock £188.

They are a generic part across the VAG range fitted to skodas, Polo,s etc. Hopefully you may find a good used one on fleabay.

Today I bit the bullet and decided to tackle an issue on my recent purchase. It was suffering from the ‘door click’ on the drivers side.

Day started well with a meet-up with @Ami, turns out only just 10 minutes away from me. Apart from discussing timing belts also manage to secure door speaker, mine was making very muffled and distorted sounds on the drivers side. So, having read a few articles on this forum and watched a couple of the very helpful videos off came the door card

The check strap must have been broken for some time and had been wearing at the door itself and amazingly was responsible for the speaker issue. Both the rivets had failed. There’s a few pictures below. Moral of the story, if your door strap start clicking fix asap!

Whilst at it I did a vanity project and fitted some TT pedals

Justin:
It was good to meet you yesterday, I will have a search in my warehouse to source you a decent check strap & put on when you come for your cam belt kit.
Cheers

You to Ami. I managed to get a check strap off ebay a week ago so all fitted and quiet as a mouse. Wasn’t expecting the speaker to have got wrecked by it; lucky you had one, also fitted and sounds great. I’ll Whatapp the details re the cam belt later

Hi

Thanks for the offer, managed to grab one from Ami when visited on Saturday so all good thanks. Wasn’t expecting the distorted sound to be caused by damage from check strap
