White dials instrument cluster!

Hang on a sec ... isn't the black dial set already a standard product from these people? It's only the white one which would be a special custom job.

Possibly is a standard pattern that he has made, so maybe we should contact him and ask, but good news for David though....

is it with the new font though? That's key for me.

I'm still not keen on having a non-OEM logo on the dash though, is that just me?!

Rather like their "plasma dials" I have to say!
What does the dials kit you have look like?

David,

For info, loudchris bought his dials from the following company in Germany:

http://k-tec-carconcepts.de/_english/speedodials.html

I bought them from him earlier in the year, but haven't got around to fitting them, and I'm now not sure if I'll bother.
If I remember correctly Chris paid around £80 for the dials and I bought them for £50.

They're not white, so won't be of any use to you, but I'm sure you'll find something on the above web site.

I hope this helps

Cheers

Jeff

The very dials are shown on page 2 of this thread, together with comments from "Mustang-owner"

Thanks David, I'm a little slow posting this morning.

Post #15 shows the exact dials I have.

The thing I'm not sure of is David has been in contact with Lockwood and the company my dials come from is K-Tec, so I'm wondering if their fonts, and design, will be the same as mine.
Obviously Dan has been looking through K-Tec’s designs and I’m not sure if the same designs are available with Lockwood. I doubt a similar deal can be struck with K-Tec

I have to say I'm not overly keen on the K Tec logo at the bottom of the rev counter on mine, but an A2OC logo in our font I'd be happy with.

David......Do you have any links to the dials Lockwood can produce

Cheers

Jeff

No, because the guy at Lockwood, is, I hope, viewing this very thread to see if there's some business coming his way! I get the impression that they can produce a custom design which would be unique, so if the requirement is for the very latest Audi fonts, then they can be specified. (I thought of having "Designed by DJ 190" emblazoned at the bottom of the dials!) LOL! Have you looked at the Lockwood site? There is nothing shown for the A2 (I think), but there is a white dial shown for the TT .... I'm going to have another look now ..... I suppose I could end up going with the "herd" .... you know, one cow crosses a field, then another, then another .... till the whole lot has a BLACK face from the mud their in! LOL! Just what is wrong with flashy, different WHITE dials!!??

David

Wow! Just read this on the Lockwood site! ....

Dial Face Colour
In our standard range, many of our car dials are available in black, white, silver, cream, red, yellow, green or blue. And dials that are made to order can be any colour or design our clients specify.

So I could even have BLUE dials, (as long as they're not flashing!) That's a big "LOL" ! .... Just in case SOMEONE thinks I'm serious!

David

White dials, for me, in an Audi, says S or RS model from the 90s/2000s. But don't let me stop you if that's what you want :)

Yes, but the A2 is from the 2000's? Have you seen (looking at those white TT dials on the Lockwood site) how clear the speed indications are, being black on a white background? I travel in Europe extensively and struggle at times to check my speed in K.P.H. I don't like to be different just for the sake of it ... there can be a logical reason for it, too!

David

Hey, that's a bit "below the belt" ..... but I AM laughing! Now, I thought that you have mentioned me in one of your posts as giving you inspiration, Craig! (I'm certainly on my way to fitting side repeaters into the mirrors .... as though I haven't got enough to do!) LOL! P.S. off to Cheshire Oaks tomorrow, regarding that DIS cluster .... I will let you know the outcome .... I bet you WERE right regarding channel 62!

David

Well, I've returned from Cheshire Oaks Audi .... They couldn't get the radio stations to display on the DIS! Craig .... everything was as you had advised! Channel 62, first column, 1 for radio, second column,0 for telephone, third column, 4 for sat-nav. They have advised that I buy a VAG-com lead and "fiddle around" with it! The problem seems to be that their more sophisticated equipment blocks further attempts to resolve the issue because the RNS-E and/or DIS have not been fitted as standard equipment? Anyway, they (Cheshire Oaks Audi) have proved to be a great place to go to, and top marks for trying, I say! Absolutely no further charge and yet another complimentary complete car valet .... many free drinks, too!!! Thedy must have spent hours on this! Can I justify that VAG-Com lead? Would I know how to use it? What use would it be in the future? Questions, questions, questions! Oh, he's helped with the bulb-failure monitoring aspect of the DIS .... says that it is definitely "do-able" .... need that K41 relay and only a small amount of wiring! Well, I've got nothing else to do, have I? LOL!!
P.S. WHITE dials are only fitted to one current Audi model .... forgotten which one, but it's £70,000+ !

David

Sorry to hear your radio DISplay isn't working yet, I'm sure you'll solve it.

Interesting on retro-bulb monitoring - wouldn't you need to run wires from the relay out to each headlamp unit - so at a minimum that's new cables to the four corners of the car?

White Dials only in one current Audi model? Probably the Q7 or something!

No, minimum wiring needed ..... he's given me wiring diagrams (non-DIS and DIS) and highlighted the runs needing to be completed! I am going to do it, one day!

David

I would be interested to take a look at this problem as I cannot see any reason why it will not work.
