White dials instrument cluster!

Well, keep us updated then, nice one!
No, minimum wiring needed ..... he's given me wiring diagrams (non-DIS and DIS) and highlighted the runs needing to be completed! I am going to do it, one day!

Any progress on the dial-swap group buy? I still very much like the idea of Audi's current-gen font style on my dash.

Lets have a picture (s) of the standard dials against the current font style, so I can compare .... It seems that a maximum of 6 A2OC members have shown an interest .... and that was for both white and black! I suppose that I might end up with black .... unless you other guys were to go white! LOL!

Hi David

As part of an extensive mod excercise on my A2, I fitted the bulb monitoring circuit to my DIS.
I can tell you that it's not a walk in the park - there is extensive wiring to be done - it's certainly do-able but it's alot of work. The wiring diagram is deceptive - black lines on paper are easy - adding wiring is another matter.
For info;
The monitor system basically "intercepts" the circuits to the; front main beams, rear tail lights, rear brake lights. It's fitted in series and reports a malfunction, be it wiring, fuse or bulb. To fit you would have to divert the existing wiring into the new relay housing and then extend to the circuits being monitored. The brake circuits will need additional wiring - on non-DIS vehicles, all three bulbs are on a single feed. Additionally, you must also connect two circuits to the instrument cluster for the display.

So, is it worth it?

If you want a "full house" DIS regardless, then yes. Given what I know now, would I do it again - yes.
I cannot remember when last I had a bulb out, so from that angle - def not a good idea.
Make your own mind up but if you proceed may I suggest you get some colour coded wires - it's so much easier.

I had a dipped beam bulb blow AGAIN last week :( Spotted it quite easily though as it didn't reflect in a big plate glass window when I was leaving work one evening

Well, I can only go by what the (highly skilled, I presume) Audi electronics Technician was telling me! He had carefully printed out the relevant circuit diagrams and highlighted the points of connection. I certainly got the impression that it was "do-able"! BUT, there is nothing to beat "hands-on" experience! I know! ....( replacement of that washer reservoir without requiring the bumper to be removed .... taking the blower apart without dash removal.) That is what this forum is all about ... helping each other and sharing experiences! Thanks a lot, Tony!

Here's a shot of the current S8 flight deck (it's so much more than just an instrument cluster!) - you can see the more modern Audi font used most clearly on the rev counter.

This group buy hasn't exactly taken flight has it?!
David, did you take the plunge on white dials in the end?

This is the current S8/A8 font and cluster style, the previous one posted is for the D3 and now were at D4
